This is the anti-tank board to some degrees. This is the new system that will punish GMs who lose consistently. Its a pretty simple system that should not only encourage winning, but also promote more activity.
Essentially every team will have a thread. In that thread the 1st post will be the team name, the GMs name and contact info and the teams previous records, regular season and playoff.
At the beginning of each year the GM will post the direction of his club, either....
Contender
or
Rebuilder.
A contending team needs to be a team that is 500 or better, or a playoff team.
A re builder is a team that is building for the future.
Contending teams must continuously be in the hunt for a playoff spot and over 500 in most years. An inactive mediocre team that cant seem to get over 45 wins or cant get out of the 1st round of the playoffs MAY be replaced.
Rebuilding teams have 3 years to rebuild. By the 4th year they must be a 500 team, or a playoff team. If they are not, they MAY be removed.
There will be no exact number of wins or losses that will get allow you to stay or that will get you fired. There inst, and shouldn't be an equation for firing a GM. Every case is separate and will be judged separately.
I need someone that can be a Team Direction admin. This person will be rewarded handsomely with Reward Points. They will be responsible for following each team, and helping to judge whether each team is running efficiently.
This is a very realistic new aspect of the BBS. It creates accountability and allows Asst GMs a real chance to become GMs sooner then would be expected otherwise.

Still in the process of setting everything up. Should be hidden to non-staff members.

i don't really know if any of the rules are up for debate but, in the other league i'm in - i rebuilt and i didn't even have draft picks so it was souly based on trading and free agency unfortunately. i missed the playoffs for 3 seasons. i barely made it the 4th year. i felt the plan was ahead of schedule.
i can only imagine if a couple of the guys i took were busts, i would have been fired if we used the "3 year rule". and i wouldn't even care except since that time i haven't missed the playoffs, i won 2 rings, went to 4 CF's in a row, and am currently well in control of the conference.
and i don't mean to come off as a show-off as my actual point is that you never really know if you're firing somebody that is potentially doing a good job. a 3 year window to rebuild concerns me a lot. 4 is at least reasonable in my view.

If a team is showing progress, and the GM is active I doubt Id fire someone. If the team, after 3 years, looks horrible still replacement may be necessary. Its a case by case issue though.

I think this concept is pretty interesting and will not only potentially fix the tanking problem, but also be another boon to activity and controversy. And we can always use more activity and controversy.

FAILURE TO ACHIEVE THE STATED GOAL OF MAKING THE PLAYOFFS WILL RESULT IN LESS TIME TO REBUILD... ie. Two years to rebuild, instead of three.

so basically it means that that "failure" year counts as your 1st year of rebuilding, right?

hate it. i'd say a lot of times people rebuild because they can't make the playoffs and their team isn't good enough. i know it's a case by case basis but w/e.
