Holy fuck, one Honors/AP adds .33 to your GPA?!? Jesus! You just multiply ours by 1 + .02(each Honors/AP). Believe me, the type of work we have to do in Fairfield County makes up for any GPA pluses that we might receive. It's hell.

This is just a worthless argument because Hernando just whips out the College Board and then it is over.

Skillz, what did you get on your PSAT's?

Post by Mark on Dec 10, 2007 18:27:56 GMT -5
PSATs are a waste of time. I went up 250 points on the real SAT (out of 2400).

Shit, I hope I go up that much. That'd put me at a 2210.

It's different for everybody, but if I remember right, people generally do worse on the PSAT. I also went in on four hours of sleep, having never so much as thought about the PSAT/SAT, and then worked my ass off when it came to the SAT, so I don't know if I'm the best example.

I took the PSAT's as a Sophomore and got a 166(= 1660 on SAT scale) & I got a 196 this year.
My goal for the SAT's is a 2100, with a 1350 on the 1600 scale.

I hated the SAT's because my strengths in High School were History, Geography and Politics and a college was going to judge me on something in which I wasn't going to need in a career (except writing which I scored quite well in). This is why Britain's A Tests or whatever there fucking called are so much better then the SAT's.

The night before the PSAT's I got so drunk and me and Allstars got so much pussy that I was to tired to take them.

Is it true that the Ivy's expect a fucking 2340 on the SAT's? My councilor told us this today, but I don't believe it, that's absolutely fucking absurd if so.

Well, my dad went to Penn & knows people there, so that gives me a decent chance I suppose if I want to go there.

Don't overthink any one of them, but try and do your absolute best in all places. Get grades, do as well as you can on the SAT, have great extracurriculars that display leadership, and have impressive essays on your applications. The counselors say some things that will bring you so down on yourself, and in general, they overdo it, so don't worry about it. Just do everything you can to be the best applicant you can be, that's all you can do.

No. With a great GPA, you have a chance at a few Ivy League schools at 2100. But a lot of that has to do with connections, and how impressive your resume is. You want a 2200 to have a realistic shot at an Ivy League school from what I know.
