At my school I am in this radio club and I have my own radio show with this other kid. We talk sports and play music and shit. Its Mondays at 11 am Pacific. www.live365.com/stations/marymount/?site=.. thats the site, check it out if you want to. I'm still learning this stuff but its pretty sick, I really like it. Its called DB Sports, too.. haha, the first show was alright, i was by myself, so that sucked. But the second show was a lot better.

I loved it. I think your partner is a little annoying. Is he your friend? And going upset with the Colts on your pick, I dig it.

Yeah he is a kid I know, he likes sports and likes all the new york teams. He is from NY but lives out in cali. He is an alright kid. I mean, I wanted to have someone that I could discuss topics with and he does a good job. He knows more about college football and Hockey so that is good to have him. But I thought the show went well. Thanks for listening mark!

yeah the show is recorded. The manager guy replays mostly all the shows through out the day, basically my first show has been replayed alot so you could check that one out too.. But all my shows should be replayed through out the weeks.

Pretty cool, you looking to get into broadcast journalism or is it just a hobby? my major will most likely be mass media, radio/telivison/ communications type of thing so yeah that is what I am trying to learn.

I listened for a while today, Dan. I really like the idea of the show but I have some objective points that will hopefully help you improve.
1. You need to turn off your mic when you play music because you can hear fumbling of papers, breathing, whispering etc.
2. You need to have your mic either closer to your face or at the same volume as your partner. He was much louder than you were.
3. Music volume was > Talking Volume which caused me to adjust my sound back and forth
4. Get a schedule together instead of hopping from 1 topic to the next. You went from baseball to college football to football no real semblance of operations. Perhaps recap in chronological order or talk about what you have the most knowledge about or most passion about first to really hook your listener. In journalism they call this the pyramid style going from most important to least important.
This way your listeners can know you talk about X in this half hour and Y in this half hour etc.
5. Cater to your audience, remember you aren't in CT anymore and such a large segment on what the yankees are doing might not appeal(it might too). Maybe spin it to whether the Angels have a chance at landing A-Rod.
6. Better preparation to talk about the above for mentioned topics. You didn't know if Vinny Testaverde had a TD or not and you failed to mention he left the game with an ankle injury being relieved by David Carr. You lose credibility like this and listeners might be turned off.
Love the concept of the show though and thought you played a good selection of music which kept me listening. Work on these things and I think your show is a real gem.

The schedule is pretty simple, I mean I went from Baseball, to football to college football to basketball, thought that good. As not being in CT anymore I understand where you are going, but this show happend to be right after Arod opt out, yanks looking for a manager, bosoxs winning, I talk about all news in the past week or days and try to keep it a good variety. But thanks again, hope you listen more.

I actually really liked the music too. Dan, I'm not kidding, if you really are into this, throw out some topics online to us the night before and we'll (I'll, I'm assuming Aaron too) will give you some ideas you can pawn off as your own, or take our ideas and spin them your own way. That way, you're giving more than just the obvious information. Even though I wasn't a big fan of the other guy, he did mention that Girardi destroyed the Marlins arms, which I knew, but was a good thing to throw in there. Liked that a lot. Overall, really cool for a first listen, looking forward to next Monday. And yeah, I'd love to talk on Sunday night about things that you can use Monday.
