According to sources, the current deal on the table has the 6-foot-11 Garnett heading to Boston and the Celtics dealing away Al Jefferson, Theo Ratliff's hefty expiring contract and Rajon Rondo. There may also be other players and draft picks involved. It's not quite done, but three industry sources — including one close to the Celtics — told FOXSports.com that it's extremely close and could become official within the next 48 hours. "It's basically done," one source said. "If it does happen, this will make the Celtics relevant again." msn.foxsports.com/nba/story/7073708Hopefully this doesn't happen because the Celtics will will own the Atlantic divsion and probably the Eastern Conference.

I thought he didn't want to go anywhere. This really sucks. I recently read an article where it was reported that the JRich trade on draft night was gonna net KG, but the phone lines in either the Warriors or Bobcats draft room went down. Minnesota wanted Al Thornton, while the Warriors had earlier instructed the Bobcats they wanted Brandan Wright. When the Bobcats were up they couldn't contact the Warriors so the Bobcats took Wright because that was the last they had heard of it.
Mullin was adamant about not trading JRich, so it would've made sense that JRich was only leaving for a big time upgrade. I think the Warriors have taken a huge step back if they cant get KG, and thats very disappointing after last year.

i actually don't like that deal for boston value-wise. i have no idea where/how they plan to replace rondo and they give up jefferson at the same time. i mean i love the idea of allen-pierce-garnett and all but having rondo in the deal just annoys me. this is why i'm not even a celtics fan. they piss me off.

Forget Rondo... they'd also be sending Gerald Green, Sebastian Telfair(yes, he's beena bust so far, but he's still young) and a bunch of future 1sts. Ainge is an idiot... and I'm sorry Ray Allen, Paul Pierce, and KG will NOT be the best trio in the NBA

They wouldn't be the favorites, but they'd be damn good.

Redo the Telfair trade, then trade PP for youth.
West-Rondo-Foye-Green-Allen-Gomes-Jefferson-Perkins
+ whatever they get for PP. Im not saying theyre world beaters, but they had a future.

I forgot Jeff Green. I wouldve probably taken Yi instead of Green though.

yeah it could have gone a number of ways since they had a lot of chips to work with but ainge panicked to try to keep his job i think and forced the team into a winner.
giving up green, jefferson and rondo? wow. i am speechless there.

It looks like The Celtics will be giving up Jefferson, Green, Telfair, and at least one first round pick for Garnett which is just insane.

i don't really think telfair is very good, and if he is he has a long way to go. if minnesota can get a better PG though, that's a sick lineup in the future.
boston gives up entirely too much, in fact this is ironically what spencer refused to give me for garnett in UOSL haha.

Boston is giving up a lot, but if they can keep Rondo, I don't completely hate the deal for them.
As a Celtic fan, it at least makes the upcoming season much more interesting. I would hate to lose Al, and as for Gerald I'm not sold on him yet, but the trio they'd have established would be pretty damn good by Eastern Conference standards.
It could come back to haunt the C's though, in 2-3 seasons.

what would be the celts lineup though
PG-Rondo-Pruitt SG-Allen-T. Allen SF-Pierce-Scalbrine? PF-Garnett-Powe C-Perkins-Big Baby
The depth sucks

One involved source said the final package will have the Celts sending Al Jefferson, Ryan Gomes, Gerald Green, Sebastian Telfair, Theo Ratliff and a No. 1 pick to Minnesota to acquire Garnett.
That is way too much Im big on Gomes I think they should try to work it out without him.

I don't like it for Celtics. They will make playoffs but lose in the first round (or 2nd if they are lucky). And they will only start to get worse from there.

I like it for the Celts. It makes perfect sense after the Allen deal. No point in standing in the middle with a bit of youth and a bit of veteren talent...
