I like it for the Celts. It makes perfect sense after the Allen deal. No point in standing in the middle with a bit of youth and a bit of veteren talent... Sacrificing all your depth for a superstar though......Not all teams work like you James. I think in the NBA superstars win out over depth though. I dont like what the Celtics are doing overall, but based on the Allen trade I think this was the right thing to do.

Exactly. Without the Allen trade, I say don't do it. They had plenty of youth... But now, they don't so they may as well go for the big one instead of being stuck as a borderline playoff team.

Still not the best trio in the NBA
Wallace/Billups/Prince/Hamilton > Allen/KG/PP Manu/Parker/Duncan > Allen/KG/PP

Constant Eastern Conference Finals appearance? Until KG, PP, and Allen take their team to repeated finals appareances... then yes Detroit still has a better trio.

hahahahha
in all seriousness that pistons team does have credibility i must admit but i don't understand how it is that players like garnett, pierce, and allen get under rated by the general public. last i checked they were on each on elite status at what they do.

Yeah people use to really talk about Pierce when the Celtics were making the playoffs and stuff. Pierce is the man in the 4th. But people forget about all that when you play with a bunch of young guys that are not ready to play yet.
The Celtics need to add to their bench though. Tony Allen, although not for sure how he will play coming off the major injury, could be a nice player. Ryan Gomes played well last year too.
They still need to sign another player or so. Keith McLeod, Dahntay Jones, Ruben Patterson, Anderson Varejao. Even guys like Brian Skinner, Lawerence Roberts, Jarvis Hayes, James Posey would be nice additions to the team.

i think glen davis could bring some serious energy off the bench by the way. yea it's far from a guarantee but i think so still. my only real concern with them is getting some backup handlers/guards. big man can't hurt though.

Wow the Celtics are giving up Ryan Gomez in the deal too? Holy shit. I know he isn't a stud but damn that's a pretty nice young role player to give up. Would have given the Celtics depth, something they really need right now. That is 3 very young players who are already quality players but will get better. Al Jefferson is an absolute beast down low. Gerald Green could very well be a 20 point scorer. Gomes is a real nice player who scores 10-15 points per game. On top of that Ratliff's expiering contract and two 1rst round draft picks for Kevin Garnett. Wow. If the Celtics don't make the Finals and heck win the Finals this deal sucks for them. They really overpaid for KG IMO. I don't think anyone was going to come in and offer all of that. If it was me I wouldn't have gone any further than Ratliff, Jefferson, and Gerald Green. But the Timberwolves have themselves a heck of a young team. Randy Foye, Corey Brewer, Gerald Green, and Al Jefferson. Pretty nice team. To bad Kevin McHale will probably screw it up.
