Had a conversation with some friends last night about who in the NBA today, will be a hall of famer...
Here are some random names we were discussing, out of these people who do you think will make the hall of fame.
Alonzo Mourning Dikembe Mutumbo Carmelo Anthony Robert Horry Ray Allen Yao Ming Dwyane Wade Allen Iverson Dirk Nowitzki Kevin Garnett Tim Dunan Jason Kidd Steve Nash Chris Paul Amare Stoudemire Dwight Howard Chauncey Billups Ben Wallace Shaquille Oneill Tracy McGrady *edit* Kobe Bryant (How could I forget my favorite)

Horry and Allen are both easy nos for me.
Zo Deke TMac are nos for me as well.
The others are too young, but Ill say no to Amare and YAo and yes to Howard and Paul.

Well it's always hard to project who will do what...there was a time I thought Tracy McGrady was a lock but now I don't think so...same could be said for Grant Hill. Out of that list Tim Duncan, Jason Kidd, KG, AI, and Shaq are the only guys worthy at this present time. Do some of the other guys have a shot yes...Zo I don't think is worthy his condition really hurt his chances. Nash and Dirk will have to keep up their production for a few more years. Yao, Amare, Howard, Paul, Wade all too early to tell. One guy not mentioned on this list is Vince Carter it's hard to argue with his numbers but I don't think he is hall of fame curious if you guys talked about him

For me Walker isnt even close. He was a good scorer for like 5 years. Not even elite though. TMac is never gonna be the same with his back injury. PP isnt gonna win a title. Jamison just doesnt do anything to make his teammates better. Melo has a chance to be a special player based on what he did at Syracuse. I think hes a long shot, but he could be special.

i guess redd and arenas too I think Arenas has a shot because I could see him scoring 28-30 a year for the next 5-8 years. And that would be rare. Redd is a no.

For me Amare has the question mark of his recovery from knee surgery still. I mean hes a very good player, and he may be a HOF type, but I think its questionable. Especially since hes gonna have to play most of the rest of his career without Nash. Howard to me is just the next elite big man in the league. Hes got amazing size and skills. Love the kid.

Love the kid. that's the same knee surgery allan houston had and also the pg at my school daryl hill(lamar odom's cousin) had. Hill led the Big East in scoring 2 yrs ago now he struggles coming off the bench as he is no way near the player he is. I am really curious how amare holds up.

If he wins a championship, I think hed have a shot. I dont think Redd wille ver sniff a ring. More then likely Melo wont win one either, but I think hes got a slim chance.

Ben Wallace in... but Deke not...?
Getting into the Hall of Fame is an individual honor... it should be based on individual achievement(s)... like winning multiple scoring titles etc...
Winning a championship is an organizational accomplishment and therefore should not be used to judge whether someone is hall of fame material or not.

Individual stats are more telling than championships... a great player will put up great stats no matter what, no matter where... but in order to win a championship you need a very good team around you.
In the end, great players tend to win anyways... so either way we'd both end up inducting an almost identical selection of players.
