This is a pretty basic thought, but it could be interesting. I was thinking about the future version of FBB, and how I intend to run a league on it once it comes out. I wanted to start at like 30 teams and slowly increase. I also intended on starting in like 1990 or 1989. Well heres the slightly new spin Id like to put on it. What if we could get some of the better GMs from NBN, UOSL and BBS together and start this league. I think some kind of secret ballot with GMs from each league listing their picks for most accomplished GM. the top 30 GMs would be invited. Obviously this idea is a no brainer, getting the 30 best Gms together from these leagues would be ideal. But heres the twist. What if the worst 3 teams each year got fired? They would be replaced by the next 3 most qualified Gms. Wed need to do a creation draft again to make sure the playing field was level, but this would all but eliminate tanking.
Thoughts or ideas?

damn thats some intense shit. though it kind of sucks when you have no choice but to tank or well you can not win if you know what I mean. I wuold be interested though.

Too much for me. The NBN guys are unbearable, and I'm sure there would be awesome competition, but I'd prefer having BBS to some all-star league.

Yea, and a creation draft doesn't really level the playing field.

Yea, and a creation draft doesn't really level the playing field. I think it would if everyone had to win.

Won't change the fact that they've made UOSL suck. Don't want to see it happen over here with their gang-up, hot shit complex.
Plus, this would result in how many BBS guys being left out? A miniumum of 15, no?

True but I don't think being forced to win right off the bat works for all GM's, and if you win 5 championships then choose to rebuild which is an aspect most GM's enjoy then you play around with the chance you could be booted from the league? I just don't like all the intangibles you have to deal with.

Realistically ever team wants to win every year.

Well, I can understand the drawbacks, which is why this is just an idea. We have 6-8 months to talk about it probably.

i like most of the NBN guys(heck like half of em are in here). it's just really one or two(i can't even think of another outside of scott actually) that are gay. the dumb part to me is that it's so tolorated and encouraged. that's not NBN's fault, they're just having fun with it at this point... it's really just the direction ducky chose. and ya it sucks to me but the league is still great.

well, i like the idea of restarting at some time around 89-90, i can't say i care too much where we start. i like the idea of the best gm's and even kinda like the worse-3 rule because i ASSUME that even those gm's will be in line for another team very soon. it's a great incentive to try to win.
my whole deal is that i hope this doesn't turn out like UOSL in the sense that half the gm's get left in the dust all because of one obsession to serve gm's from other leagues. i really truely HATE the fact that some got left behind in UOSL when they were the ones in favor of restarting and were perfectly good gm's in the old league. if that is gonna happen then i would rather just keep this group we have here.

I guess I just dont get it. Why the obsession with creating the perfect lg with perfect owners? Lgs are what they are. Some good GM's some bad and some in the middle. And a lot of it is luck. Do the players you draft develop? Do the talent faires smile upon you or frown? Seems like this lg is always trying to get rid of GM's. I just dont get it, nearly all the guys in this lg are pretty active and the ones that arent super active seem to do their DC's and participate fine. Not everyone is a wheeler dealer.
I've been in basball lgs where they woulda killed for this kinda activity. As the old saying goes the grass is always greener on the other side, sometimes you just need to just be thankful for what you have.
My 2 cents for what it's worth.

Its all a process though Greg. 3 years ago I woulda killed for half the activity I get out of BBS now. I dont think there is a more active, or more consistent sim out there then BBS, but that doesnt mean it cant be better. Why have bad or mediocre Gms when you can have the best around? Why have a guy posting 50 times a season when you can have a guy posting 100 times a season. Im all for the fact that the BBS is a great place to be but I think I can expect to want more if thats what I want. I mean I think youd be hard pressed to find a commish that does what I do. The time I put in to the sim, how its run, and how regular and consistent things are here, its rare. Not trying to pat myself on the back, but I dont think its debatable really. I expect alot out of myself, which is why I expect alot out of GMs.

Which NBN guys are unbearable? Scott aside because even guys in NBN hate him. The NBN guys are protective of NBN. Its understandable. They think its the best, and they have a right to that opinion. Honestly NBN isnt the same when Will isnt running it though and Insane was a huge reason why I couldnt get into the league anymore. But hey, thats just my 2 cents.
