Angels Trade: Vladimir Guerrero Juan Moreno
Yankees Trade: Alfonso Soriano Hideki Matsui Freddie Cortina 3 million in Cash
I agree. Vlad is amazing, I would love to keep him, but 25 million a year is very hard to hold onto, especially when you have another guy making 20 million. Soriano is a great 2nd basemen, Matsui will fill in for Vlad, and Cortina is a nice 4 spect. Good dealing and good luck.

Really great job by Dan IMO. He NEEDED to make a move and he still got value out of it. Look what he dealt to get Vlad, and then what he got when he moved him. I dig.

Wow. I don't even know what to say. It's nice to get Vlad out of the division but adding Soriano and Matsui is a problem, plus they won't have the huge financial problems down the road that I was counting on.

Dan should've waited for the offseason. Sori is a 4.5 star player but really not that good. 5 in hits vs. RHP won't cut it. Matsui has very little value outside of Yankees Stadium, if I had to guess. Vlad was completely raking and could've taken Dan to new heights. Now Miyagi won't have to face Coach Dan "Renaissance" Basone in the WS.

Sori is no vlad, but my lineup is a lot better now I think. I add two quality starters, and do not have to pay 25 million dollars. Allows me to sign guys.

Yea...moved 10M, got 25 in return, it's a 15M investment that's affordable with the release of Moose (10M) and Bernie being let go this off-season (8M+) ... so compared to where I was in the off-season, I actually still trimmed my payroll by 3M.
The big loss will be Soriano's bat at 2B...I will have to call up a young guy, ideally someone who can steal bases...and place him #1 and move Jeet to #2 and put the monster trio of Vlad, Nicky J, and Drew Henson at 3-4-5. Top 3 in homers. and then Durazo, Giambi at 6-7...makes it a tough lineup.
Loved picking up the reliever, as that was a weak spot. Hoping to find a mid-20's reliever, but Moreno will be fine until he retires with his ratings. Gonna ante up the bullpen further by putting Brumit back in the setup-spot and put Pettitte back in the rotation since he's done well lately.
Hopefully I can finally get past the 1st round this time.
LA and his deep lineup and Pedro at #1 still the team to beat IMO

I like the deal for both teams. Only the Yankees could take on that amount of salary and having the best hitter in the game is always a huge bonus. I like the addition of Moreno as well, the Yanks had no bridge to Rivera (Pettite and Wright, aren't they starters?) and now they have a sound arm for the 7th and 8th inning.
For Dan this is a great move as well. He did give up the best hitter in the game but doing so saved his franchise, dumping 26 M in salary, taking on 10M and coming away with +19M (I like the 3M in cash Dan, nice touch). Although Soriano does not rake RHP, he's still a premier 2B. Matsui is another hitter who, combined with Soriano, should somewhat make up for Vlad. Dan has two other relievers who can pick up the slack for Moreno so he doesn't have too much worry about. All in all, great trade for both teams and best of luck.

Vladimir Guerrero, Nick Johnson, Drew Henson. A formidable trio, to say the least.
