Team Strengths:
- Great starting pitching
- Great bullpen
- Good contact hitters
- Great power hitters
- Great defense
- Solid speed
The A’s pretty much come back with the same strengths as last season, despite losing 2 starting pitchers, and 2 starting outfielders. We definitely don’t expect to dominate with the same balance that we had last year, but we should still be very good in these areas.
Our top hitters were kept intact as we return with one of the more toughest lineups to face, and teams’ will have there hands full against the Big 3 of this rotation.
Team Weaknesses:
- Questionable end of rotation
- Weak outfield arms
Zito and Hudson are the only 2 guys in the starting rotation where I know what to expect from them. Harden hasn’t made a major league start yet, while Munro and Walker both weren’t starters last year. We also lost a couple good outfield arms in CF and RF, we’ve dropped off a decent amount there.
Franchise Player:
Barry Zito/Rich Harden
These are easily the two most valued players by this franchise. Barry Zito was by far the best pitcher in the league last season, and Rich Harden is a promising prospect who hopes to make a name for himself in his first season in the Majors.
Trade Block:
Need a starting RF. Also could use another SP.
Prospects, (Mcpherson, Fischer, etc), Relievers, and whatever else can go depending on the deal.
Season Overview:
We hope to win the division again and fully expect for us to compete for a WS again this year. We aren’t as good as we were last year, so from my perspective expectations are slightly lower, I realize we aren’t going to have a season like last year but we shouldn't be too far away from it. Something over 90 wins and I will be happy.
