Angels 04 Overview
Team Strengths:
Good Contact Hitters
Good speed
Solid bullpen
Ok Power
We are a team surrounded by one big bat player and the rest are all around good contact hitters. Last year it seemed most of our guys did not hit for average but power instead, resulting in many strikeouts and inconsistent at bats. This year, hopefully we can draw more walks, get on base with contact hitting and produce runs that way. I like the new pitching staff we have; hopefully they can go deeper into the game and allow the bullpen to shut down guys.
Team Weaknesses:
Weak Starting pitching
Weak defense
Weak outfield arms
Weak depth
We had one of the worst starting pitching cores last season; I hope that with a few new additions and subtractions we have fixed that somewhat at least. The defense is pretty weak; the outfield arms are mediocre at best. The left side of the infield though is pretty strong, while Benji Molina is a pretty great defensive catcher.
Depth is a pretty big issue for us as well as we lack some strong hitters coming off the bench as well as defensive subs, well see how it goes this year, some triple a guys will be the majority of the depth so it could be good and bad.
Franchise Player:
Alex Rodriguez is the best hitter in baseball, he is nasty infielder as well that will be playing third for us, but he can hit the shit out of the ball. I cannot wait to see what he does this year, by far the best addition this off-season.
Outlook: It would be pretty amazing if this team gelled together well and made the wild card, that would be the number one goal at this point, the wild card. So we will see how the season plays out and go for there, if it looks like we can contend I may make a move or two too help us out. But it looks like we still are waiting on these young guys to develop.
Trade Block:
Looking to deal off some of my veteran hitters like DaVanon, Salmon, Molina, for some younger players and starting pitching. Not really looking to move my youth at the moment unless I get a great offer.
