The transaction screen in OOTP5 is where you decide who will play at each level of baseball (MLB, AAA, AA, A), and where you put injured players on the Disabled List. There is also a Minor League Report that will make suggestions on moving players up and down.
There is no maximum amount of player spots in AAA, AA and A. You may only have 25 players in the majors. In September this expands to a 40 player maximum. Playoff teams need to bring their rosters down to 25 before the playoffs begin. Failure to do this will result in me doing it for you and I can’t read your minds unfortunately.
Releasing and signing players is done via the Transactions forum.
When signing a player, please put the player’s name in the thread’s title, and keep it at one player per thread. You may only sign the player to a minor league contract or a 1 year deal. The amount of money you ask for in the forum is the maximum amount I will give to the player. If the player asks for less, I will give what the player offers. If the player asks for more then I will post that offer in the forum, and it will be up to the GM to respond before the next sim either accepting or declining the offer. If this is not done then the player will be available for other GM’s to sign.
If a player is released and I feel that the move is bad for the league, I will either put it to league discussion or I will decide to not allow it. Hopefully this never happens.
Any player that is released during the season is on waivers until the next sim. The claiming team with the lowest record is awarded the player. In the first month of the season, preference is determined using the previous year’s standings. If no team claims the player by the next sim then the player will be available for any GM to sign.
Be aware that the remaining salary for a released player's contract is charged to your team during the current year.
You may waive a player with a contract you want to dump, in the transactions forum. The player will be on the waiver wire until the next sim. The claiming team with the lowest record is awarded the player. In the first month of the season, preference is determined using the previous year’s standings. If no team claims the player, he is then off the waiver wire and can not be put back on for the remainder of the season. You may not waive players after the trade deadline.
Please note that this is not the same as real life. I am attempting to give teams a way to dump salary, but at the same time the rule is set up so that it can not be abusive and GM’s will need to use this ability wisely.
