I agree.
I hate to lose Alex after all he did for us, but I could not afford his salary basically when it comes down to everything. Tony is a number 1 starter and will help our struggling staff tremendously. Arnie Munoz is an A duration reliever in triple a with amazing strikeouts who we will look to help our poor bullpen who seemed to let us down in the playoffs. Jerry Owens is a great young prospect OF, who could one day team up with Jeff Francoeur.
Arod has been on the block for awhile, really no bite. I love what I get here. Nice dealing and good luck.

Coming into the offseason, our one glaring weakness was 3B.
A platoon of Shea Hillenbrand and Joe Randa was respectable in 2004, but it wasn't cutting it. We needed a big bat. Especially, after the acquisition of David Ortiz at the deadline fell through.
With Kyle Snyder and Josh Stewart at AAA, we have the pitching depth to trade Tony Armas, if an impact bat became available. It did, and we pulled the trigger.
