Phillies Trade: Ryan Howard Yoel Hernandez
Mets Trade: Matt Holliday Prentice Redman
Phills Accept. This could bite me in the butt in a few years when Howard is killing my team, but I'm hoping that Holliday ends up being a great player, and I feel Jason Stokes will be a solid player for me, so I can afford to deal off Howard.
Nice dealing with you.

Mets confirm.
Holliday is rated a better prospect than Howard, but I just couldn't pass up getting him. Wright/Holliday are similar hitters, so getting Howard gives me a real nice 3/4 in the future, along with Reyes leading off. Now I'll deal Loney for a pitcher to pair with Kazmir. I like a lot.
Nice dealing Nova. This was worked over PM for quite a while.

I think it's a preference deal. I just couldn't pass up getting Howard, even if he is ranked much lower.

Yeah, I like Howard a lot, but there were two reasons that I decided to pull the trigger.
a) He's 23, and in Single-A, so I'm not sure I want to wait till he's 25-26 for him to start playing in the Majors. b) Jason Stokes is looking quite solid, so I think he can be my power-hitting 1B of the future
I really like my young group of hitters...
C - Jeff Mathis 1B - Jason Stokes 2B - Chase Utley 3B - Hank Blalock SS - Jimmy Rollins LF - Chone Figgins CF - Marlon Byrd/Jorge Padilla RF - Matt Holliday
The nice thing is, the majority of these guys are already pretty developed, I just need Mathis & Stokes to develop and my offense looks to be set for the future.

Yup, and I actually want to wait for him. Looks like Wright/Howard/Reyes/Kazmir will all be impact players at the same time, which is what I need.
