Hello all,
I have some good news. After much troubleshooting, we have determined the source of the problem, and it does not put the league or league file at risk either now or at any point in the future, so a re-sim will not be done. All the exports you have done for Sunday's sim are just fine and will be used. We know exactly what went wrong with the sim, and what happened with the sim. Let me explain...
Here is what has gone down. The last sim was the first that was performed on Bob's PC. I know that he did nothing wrong, and that nothing was changed in the League Setup screen, because I watched him perform the sim via a remote control tool (I could see Bob's PC as he was using it).
To troubleshoot, the first thing I did was setup a test environment where I restored our league to the way it was before this last sim on Thursday, and I simmed those same games out on my PC. There were no issues - attendance was fine, weather was fine, there were only 4 shutouts, 0 no-hitters, and many mid and high scoring games just like normal.
So the next step, was to copy the current league file (which Bob uploaded after his sim) and sim out our next set of games in a test environment. Everything looked fine. There were 0 no-hitters, 9 shutouts, and 21 times a team scored in double-figures.
I did this exact test 4 times, and on 2 occasions went ahead and simmed out the rest of the season. Everything was fine in every test I did.
My thought became that Bob may be missing some of the required files needed to actually run the sim - some of the .dat files that control weather, park settings, etc. I had Bob check his PC, and that was indeed the case. Without all the needed files, the actual sims just kind of freaked out and replaced the missing information with whatever random settings it wanted to use, which obviously favored pitching.
So, I had Bob delete his league from his computer, then I sent over the exact copy of the league that resides on my computer. Bob then proceeded to test simming from his machine multiple times, and he saw the same results that I was seeing - everything looked fine. No more frequent no-hitters, offense back to normal, attendance back to normal, weather back to normal, etc. He also simmed out through the end of the season and saw no problems.
At this point, since our league is not in any jeopardy, we will not re-sim. This way, injuries will not be affected, PD's will not be affected, playoff races will not be affected, etc. Everyone played under the same circumstances, just like normal, only pitching was more effective than normal.
We also understand the concern of lost revenue from this sim, and we will fix that issue as well. This is something that no team should be penalized for and it was not any individual team's fault. Here is what we are going to do to resolve this issue.
We are going to make calculations for every team in the league in the following manner:
Attendance/Game from prior to last sim (since this last sim everyone's attendance/game dropped due to no attendance) times your ticket price. This will tell us how much revenue you were drawing per game. Then we are going to take that number times the number of home games that you had from 8/9-8/15 (the dates of this last sim). This will give us the amount of revenue that you lost due to attendance during this last sim.
We will be adding that number to your cash reserve prior to our Sim Sunday, so when Sunday's file is posted all financials will be fixed. We will also post these results in the forum so that you know exactly how this affected your team.
Thank you for your time and patience during this mishap. Rest assured that we have clearly identified and resolved the issue so that it does not happen again.
Please contact either Bob or myself with any comments or concerns.
