You guys must not understand I have over 69 million to spend on Free Agents.
With that Pedro signing... I still have 49million.
It's worth every penny.
Pedro Martinez Mark Beuhrle Dontrelle Willis
I think it was worth it.
Again, 20mill a year is overpaying, but I'm not in the hole that you think I'm going to be in.
I still have 49mill remaining that's all you need to know.

I think Dice-K is more of a thing to argue with. Initially, I was giving Dice-K 20+, and then I couldn't justify giving it to him. But Pedro is Pedro, and the only problem is 5 years. 4 is ideal. But he had comparable offers per year at 4 years, so if it took 5, oh well, it took 5. Mets are still winning the NL East, you watch.

Obviously I'm still getting used to the league, but my guess is there is no real formula. Sheffield just had 130 RBI at age 35. Biggio and Bagwell didn't exactly continue their success into the middle of this decade, so I wouldn't have been surprised to see a sharp decline (although under .200 is pretty bad). I've heard a lot about older guys have unrealistic declines mid-season. But I haven't experienced it. From my experiences it's pretty random. I think I remember Pedro in one of my older lgs pitching very well into his mid 40's. I've also seen guys hit the wall at about 32. Pretty much like real life. Some guys will defy the odds and some crash early.

these were Duce's rules for Spring Training.
It's actually pretty easy to set up spring training, for those that are new to this... easy to learn, and maybe those who know better can give some good advice here. Basically...
Each player has 20 development points. At default they have 5 points in each of 4 categories.
Batters: Contact, Power, Strikezone judgment, Defense Pitchers: Pure stuff, Velocity, Control, Stamina
You can increase and decrease from these categories with each individual player and there should be a risk/reward to this. You can also take away 5 points to set aside for the player to learn a new position or roll. You can also "ask coaching staff" for what is best.
Sending Spring Training Files: 1) Complete your adjustments for ST. 2) Click "Export team training plan." 3) Send export file to me this way......
You can do this via email or AIM if I'm on. Send the file from:
c:\program files\out of the park developments\ootp5\bbsbl.lg\expimp
There should be a file in there that says "teamXXst.exp". XX being your team's #. You send this file to me @...
bbsblcommish@yahoo.com or The duuuuucE on AIM.
If there are any questions about this, please don't hesitate.
