Apple just released its new operating system Mac OS X Leopard, an upgrade avaliable for all Mac computers. Leopard comes with a set of many new features, of which most importantly includes a program called "Bootcamp". Bootcamp enables you to run Windows (XP or Vista) on your Mac, and since I believe the game for BBSBL only runs with windows, making this uprgade should allow you to download the game onto your Mac. Leopard costs $129 (apple.com) and I believe both Windows Vista and Windows XP Home Edition are worth $200 (bestbuy.com). Putting down all this money may seem very expensive but it could be a worthwhile investment in the long haul, especially you need Windows for other functions (PC gaming anyone???...Dan). From what I've read, I'm pretty certain that making these upgrades will enable Mac users to download the BBSBL game as long as its only requirements are that it runs on Windows. If you are planing to make this upgrade I'd double check and do some more research on Leopard and the program "Bootcamp". I hope this helps and if anyone has any more information please post!

Interesting.
Should be known that nobody should feel compelled or obligated to purchase this. It's not required at all. It's very important to me that this continues to be FREE fun.

Are you sure about that dan, I believe you need the program "Bootcamp" to make it happen

Im ight be mistaken then. I guess since this new program launched that you can not do that anymore which sucks so now you have to buy this program to get the windows software. too bad... my roommate gave me the scoop.

Yeah they had a beta version of "Bootcamp" that has been out since April 2006 and like you said, you have to upgrade your Mac to Leopard to fully run it. Andy...why? ?!!!

IMPORTANT: You must have an Intel Processor in order to run Windows a Mac. I'm pretty sure the latest Mac Desktops and Mac Book Pros do, but I don't believe the Mac Books do. In order to check click on the Apple tap and then click on "About this Mac" and you can see the type of processor or and memory your computer has.

OK, break this down for me. I have a MacBook Pro. How much is it for me to be able to download OOTP on my computer?

Yeah I know, but I have a mac. So I need to know for sure how much all of the software would cost to get it on my computer.

Question: I was thinking of getting Leopard for Christmas, but now I'm much more hesitant to buy it after reading your last post. Are your programs crashing while you are operating Windows on the Mac or when you are running Leopard? Anyways I guess it does make sense to wait for an update or patch that addresses these issues. Also, Mark you have to pay over another $200 if you want to download OOTP to your Mac if you don't have Windows ($130 for Leopard and $200 for Windows Vista/XP). If you have an extra copy of Windows at your house, then you just need to pay for Leopard.

At that rate, it would be cheaper to go to Wally World and buy their cheapest computer possible and use it for OOTP.

www.ootpdevelopments.com/article.php?newsid=404So can we, or can we not, do this on a Mac? I'm so confused. This makes me think we can.. are we using an older version of the game, one that is free? So the newer version works with macs, but isn't free?

Use it on your current Mac or a Mac upgraded to the Leopard Operating System?

From what I've seen, we can get it on a Mac, but I don't think it's the version we use for this league. I think it's an older version. Right?

We use an older, free version of OOTP. No idea what you can play on a Mac though.

No you get the leopard, and then XP or vista whichever you get, then you can download the OOTP, the one we use in this league. like spence said it is free, i do not see what is confusing about this. It cost money for this software, but not for the baseball download.
Also, if you get leopard, you can get like some package than lets like four or 5 others help you pay for it at some price and 4 or 5 people can use it to download on their computers, its a good deal.
