How are you supposed to handle tired position players? Should you keep playing them and expect them to recover or should you rest them for an entire sim?

Basically, the computer will rest your guys and take care of it.
Players get tired during sims that you don't even see. It just happens that a certain player or two will get tired on the day the sim stops.
If you want to control the amount of playing time your backups and starters get, adjust your depth chart or talk about it with your buddy. If you don't know how a depth chart works, then read the tutorials link in the rules forum.

Depth Charts!
You should have players backup starters a certain percentage of the time. I always do 8% for my top players/non-catchers. For example....
Depth Chart....
vs RHP no DH...
C- Johnson - no backup 1B - Kent - Choi 10% 2B - Ellis - Polanco 8% 3B - Huff - Polanco 8% SS - Berroa - Polanco 8% LF - Kielty - Rolls 8% CF - Bradley - Rolls 8% RF - Walker - Rolls 8%
vs RHP w/DH...
C- Johnson - no backup 1B - Kent - no backup 2B - Ellis - no backup 3B - Huff - no backup SS - Berroa - no backup LF - Kielty - no backup CF - Bradley - no backup RF - Walker - no backup DH - Mench - no backup
vs LHP no DH...
C- Estalella - no backup 1B - Kent - no backup 2B - Ellis - no backup 3B - Huff - no backup SS - Berroa - no backup LF - Kielty - no backup CF - Bradley - no backup RF - Walker - no backup
vs LHP w/DH...
C- Estalella - no backup 1B - Kent - no backup 2B - Ellis - no backup 3B - Huff - no backup SS - Berroa - no backup LF - Kielty - no backup CF - Bradley - no backup RF - Walker - no backup
Essentially I only do the backups for my main lineup, my RHP wo/DH. If I want to do a platoon, like with my C spot, Id list it here. Then you can auto run your lineups based on your DCs. I also set up my DCs first, then auto run my lineups. Then I tweak my lineup order according to what I want.

the %s should be exactly what they are. so if you use 10%, your backup's gonna play about every 10 games. 5% = closer to every 20 games and 20% closer to every 5 games, you get the point...
i might have to rip that idea off somewhat spencer, i never really thought about it that way(only using depth for ur main thing).

Its a good idea. Id steal it from me if I wasn't me.
