If in fact mac users can't use ootp5, we're going to have to at least attempt to set up something where they can participate and have the most involved experience possible.
Basically, when you use the game itself, the main advantage you have as a GM is that it's just that much easier to view your team(and other's teams), because of various reasons. You can look at/sort by any rating set while looking at any level(mlb, aaa, aa, a) you want to. The player pages are much more readable and easier to comprehend, as well as the stats. You get the point though.
However, what you actually do in the game, while very useful and fun, is pretty minimal. The actuality of it is that everything you view in the game, you can view online, it's just harder that way.
This is what you do in the game:
- Decide who plays in MLB, AAA, AA, A, DL
- Set the rotations and line-ups for all 4 levels.
- Set your depth chart(optional)
- Release players(optional)
- Set ticket price and promotion days
- Set team strategies(this is the one I feel sucks to miss out on)
- Make free agent bids
As much as I hate to cheapen the value of having the game, it's truly a cosmetic experience that saves the commissioner work. I feel like it is doable to work around this problem.
There are a couple of basic ideas. The first obviously being that GMs with macs can PM me their changes/transactions/finances.
There is also a buddy-system possibility. Where you could get somebody else in the league to do your changes for you and export them. This would really save me from work.
I don't know, any other suggestions would be cool. I don't really want to worry too much but issues need to be dealt with and solved. Let's at least get some kind of discussion going regarding this situation.
