BPG SPG TOPG FG% RPG Trap Press
Is it fair to say that I honestly have no idea? I don't know for sure what works. But, I'm trying to (poorly, as I still can't get my shotblocking center) build my team around BPG/SPG, along with a good offense. I think your best chance of winning with less than amazing talent is to have some good offensive firepower from the wings, and then a really dominating defensive frontline, ala Aaron's Magic the other year.
Defensive ratings have always been a little skewed to me. I remember one time, long, long, long ago, some time (I think I was a freshman in HS), had the nastiest defenders, but they gave up over 100 per game because they weren't turning the other team over. It's a computer game when it comes right down to it, so limiting shots is hugely important. As is making your own. Easiest way to limit your shots is to create turnovers, and rebound (defensive 4/5, efficient players). Easiest way to score your own is through a few gunners (1/2/3). It's not perfect, but I think that's a pretty decent way to look at it. I'm much better at putting together teams than I am at DC's, though. It is definitely something I want to improve.

i'm not particularly good at trading. when i "need" something, it's not as easy for me to go out and get it as it is for some people. some of the GMs in this league can do it with the snap of the finger, which is pretty cool. i don't have to, or want to defend myself with all that other shit though. there are people here who have already seen what i do, in action. i don't acquire all-star teams, never will. it's hard to beat highly talented teams without having one yourself, it just is. but i love the challenge, so i'm highly active in this league. i did have a top 5 winning % in the league at one point, so i do win. anyone who thinks i'm saying what i say to be cocky, i guess they're just mistaken, not my problem. Duce, I'm not being an asshole, I'm just highly confused by this. Can you elaborate? For all I know you completely own other sim leagues, but it's been like six or seven seasons since the top 5 winning % (if I'm not mistaken). I mean, that's a pretty long time ago to still have this idea of yourself. But again, I don't know what you're doing in other leagues right now, and am not being an asshole, but wouldn't mind it being clarified.

Whether or not you mean to, Duce, you sound very full of yourself. I saw you build a great team in UOSL, but it had STARS. You can't win just with strategy. FBB isn't that simple. You had a team with KG and TD. If you were as brilliant with strategy, wouldn't you have won?

And only had TD because I quit. Or that top 5 winning % wouldn't have been there. That Nets GM killed my team.

To get back on topic, above all these things I like to have similar qualities among my players. Maybe my system develops as a product of wanting shotblockers, or wanting guys who keep their turnovers down, but whenever I rebuild (very often), I like to think of trying out something else. This time around, I saw how many teams won with great perimeter shooting, so I tried that out. I've never gone with a big team, I've never had shutdown defenders on the perimeter, and I don't tend to have awesome scoring bigs or 3s. Those are things I want to try out.

very cool aaron and I think this is important for a rebuilding team to do, to create its own identity but when you start to become an elite team you tend to get elite in all of the above aspects.
My favorite team all time was after I rebuilt the Pistons in the old BBS when I had Kevin Branch, Steve Kerr and I went with pure outside shooters and pure rebounders at the big spots. I saw a ton of success.

Im not going to rank stuff cus im lazy but like Dave said if your an elite team then you'll be at the top of the rankings for the most part. I like defensive minded, high percentage teams. Rebounding is important but not at the top of my list. Blocks/Steals is up there.

Who else?

Pig was the Nets. In the 2013 draft, his pick ended up number one.
Thanks man...and to think I got it for that defender who was A+, but never really did much. Hmmmmm, I can't remember his name, PF.

James Bailey. He was my boy, I was the one who found him. Dealt him to you with Semih Erden for Dwight Howard, didn't I?

2013 would have been such a letdown if you got everyone but MJ. It would've sucked, but I think I would've been ok with Barkley, Dream, and Stockton. I had a championship team before that draft as well, so I would've won only 68 instead of 73. That is until 2024, then none of us had a chance.

erden and bailey was a nice frontcourt...howard never really panned out in old bbs, did he? Not really. He was really, really good, but he wasn't a superstar. He was like 18-11 I think. I had Mayo, Livingston, and Green with him, plus Theo Davis as a lesser Maxiel type. I was in love with that team. They broke my heart every year.

Howard was pretty good not overly studly like Andray Blatche

Blatche is just another example of D2A's genius. I still don't see how he targeted Magic in the '08 draft when everyone else was looking at Bill Cartwright.

I miss CC. He was brutal as far as I'm concerned. He only had anything because of what he walked into. He ran that into the ground over the seasons, and never was good at all. Just annoying.
