I know there are a lot of different strategies for BBS, but I've been thinking lately about the way I try to shape my team, and there are some things I go for that other guys may not care so much about, and there are certain things I just don't pay much attention to...
So you don't necessarily have to rank these, but I thought it would be interesting to hear how certain guys value these:
BPG SPG TOPG FG% RPG Trap Press
For me, the things I fixate most on are blocks and turnovers. Shotblocking does so much for defense and overall team performance. FBB really rewards teams that block shots.
I can't say the same for turnovers, because a ton of good PGs and wings give the ball up a lot, but I try to keep my team between 10-12 TOPG. I won't keep a PG who does 2.5+ TOPG. That said, guys like Wade, Baron, Kobe are total superstars and their turnovers don't seem to hurt their teams.
RPG, I've learned, is huge, but I don't fixate on rebounding grades. Rebounds have a lot to do with pace, focus and size. It's not my primary goal to have great rebounders, but I know a lot of better GMs have awesome rebounding teams.
Steals are also great for defense. I know perimeter and post defense and all those grades matter, but I have a hard time worrying about a guy's defense if he blocks shots or steals the ball at a good rate.
FG% is very high up there. 44+ out of my backcourt, and 46+ is ideal from the post guys. But for post players, if they don't shoot that much, I don't care. Curry goes 43%, but he gets to the line so much and doesn't really take THAT many shots.
I like to trap if I think my team's fast and big, and I basically have the same things in mind for press. But I tend to throw it against the wall and see if it sticks with these two. I'm just total shit with this aspect of DC's.
Also wondering: what position do you guys build around ideally? I used to think PG, no doubt. But right now, I'd go with a big man who has a complete game. I've never had a superstar wing, and while they're great, I think you need a lot more to win around a wing. I'd probably build around guys like Howard, Oden, Curry, Aldridge before I built around some of the young perimeter players around.
Mostly just thinking out loud here, but these kinds of things get discussed in bits and pieces, so it'd be nice to hear from those of you who aren't like Duce and don't refuse to reveal their FBB opinions! ;D

BPG RPG FG% TOPG SPG Trap Press
Ideally, I would build my team around a dynamic young Center, but PG is also very important.

I think my biggest thing is bpg+spg vs topg. My favorite stat.
I also love bigs that can defend, and smalls that can shoot.

When I retire from sims, I'm gonna reveal everything, and I think people will be amazed by the accuracy and depth of what I've discovered. I don't think this game is really on par with basketball. I just think I'm pretty damn good at learning out how to succeed in games.
Aaron I don't mind participating, it doesn't really reveal anything.
Trap Press TOPG *insert large airspace here* BPG FG% *insert large airspace here* SPG RPG

i'm not particularly good at trading. when i "need" something, it's not as easy for me to go out and get it as it is for some people. some of the GMs in this league can do it with the snap of the finger, which is pretty cool.
i don't have to, or want to defend myself with all that other shit though. there are people here who have already seen what i do, in action. i don't acquire all-star teams, never will. it's hard to beat highly talented teams without having one yourself, it just is. but i love the challenge, so i'm highly active in this league. i did have a top 5 winning % in the league at one point, so i do win.
anyone who thinks i'm saying what i say to be cocky, i guess they're just mistaken, not my problem.

Since when is rebounding on the bottom of your list? Never really ever cared about any player's rebounds per game. Nor should anyone else but for some reason they do... If a team dominates in rebounding they usually dominate the game. 2nd chance points kill teams

Also if you could ever back up anything you said with a fact I'd be shocked.
You are the first to criticize anything analytical someone has to say about the game yet you never counter with your own thoughts because your arrogance prevents you from even debating anything because you are too good to partake and its not worth your time. I can't help the fact you've always fallen short in the league and our division, you make that an issue I don't. I like to share my opinions and knowledge about the game I've acquired and I must be thinking something right because I've been a proven winner over two leagues winning titles in both. I don't claim to know all but I'm confident in my abilities over anyone but I respect the best. Both Aarons, Hernando, Outlawz, Mark, and even DJ(As much as I hate him he is one of the best at retooling).
What do you bring to the table, Duce? Nothing
I know you won't answer to any of this because you are too good to defend yourself.

Trap and press are a more value to you than a shot blocking center who rebounds!?
