With the FA and TC processes done are the top 8 teams in the west IMO (Golden State, Phoenix, Denver, Seattle, Houston, Portland, San Antonio, Los Angeles Lakers) now equal with the top 8 teams of the East Conference?

Good question but I don't think so. My team improved, Bulls are the champs, Raps are strong, Pistons are still dangerous, indiana is better well rounded, and the Celtics can be a threat with howard, mash, and shaq.
In the west we have golden state. After a lot of solid teams but if the warriors stay put I'm pretty sure they'll be in the finals again.

East > West, no question. Outside of GS, I don't see a potential finals contender. There are a lot of potential finals teams in the East.

there are a lot of good teams out west, but the east is far superior. But in a couple years the west will have new super powers, such as the Laker's. I do not think the warriors are as dominate as everyone thinks they are.

even if teams start to fade in the east, the 76ers, hornets, magic, bucks, etc are growing. i don't foresee the west ever being as good overall, however that doesn't mean they won't win championships because they can.

You took the words right out of my mouth. Not only do you have the great teams in Detroit, Chicago, New York, Indiana...but you also have young, up-and-coming teams in New Orleans, Philly, Orlando, Milwaukee, Boston, etc.
