I thought we were all (including Nova) under the impression that it was his contract year, due to all of his comments about how this was the year that mattered, when it was time to put up or shut up, etc. Despite the fact that he has another year, it's been 3 seasons with no improvement, Skillz is waiting for a spot, and whenever he gets an opportunity to badmouth Martinez he does, when in actuality Martinez is a better GM and a better member of BBS.

Ugh, Nova, take a step back and stop talking about the right track, and all the things Martinez did wrong. There's not a single concrete thing you can point to that says you've fixed the team by any means.
Barbosa and JJ are 26 and 29, so stop talking about the future. You just continue to contradict yourself. You fucked up by not dealing for Curry, and now your team is stuck with the mixture of vets in their prime and young kids who aren't ready. And it results in you, once again, for the fourth straight season, sucking it up. You could've had something if you made the move for Curry/TC and THEN brought in JJ, but you half-assed it and didn't commit to a plan.
You been miserable in FA, you don't have any direction for your team other than to wait for TC (which, surprise!, yielded OK results and the same awful Hornets team), and the only reason why you haven't improved, according to you, is because of what Martinez left you with. In actuality, he left you with one of the best pieces to build around in BBS, and you haven't done a thing with him on board.
These standards of building a team are fine for other leagues, but don't think it's special treatment that you're gettin A TON of shit for trying this out in BBS. Your team will never contend, even if Arthur becomes worthwhile (he won't. He's a typical non-shotblocking big who has nice ratings and athleticism but lacks the weight and strength to ever do much), you'll be nothing more than a 44 win team at best.
Don't cave in to the pressure, fine. You're one piece away, and you could go out and get it in two seconds, and you're making a huge mistake by overloving what you have and the very concept of youth, which never does shit. Decent young cores don't just blossom into championship teams. Dave had to trade for Dirk. Outlawz had to trade for Tony Parker. DJ had to add Hinrich to Wade and Arenas. Whatever you think is going to happen, I can assure you will not if you don't make major trades.
Nova, I just want to ask you two questions, and then I'll relent until the offseason, because I don't care about you and I'm not a Hornets fan; I just think your method brings down the quality of BBS and you haven't earned any immunity from criticism.
My questions: Is your ultimate goal to win a championship? Do you think you can ever win with what you have?
I'm going to guess your answers are yes and no. If that's the case, you should have enough pride to want to improve that NOW and not endure another losing season.

I've never said I wouldn't trade Arthur, you can ask several GM's, he has been available and been offered in numerous trades. You can't say my team won't win a title in 2-3 years because you have zero idea what my team will look like. I'm not saying I have an amazing young core of players or anything, but I certainly think that in probably two seasons, with some more additions in FA and through trades, I'll have a competitive, contending team.

Out of curiosity, have you made offers to teams, or have other teams just made offers to you? Both, but mostly me making offers to other teams. Over the last 4-5 days, I've sent out offers/inquiries to 6-7 different GM's

You've done everything but follow through on your plan.

Hornets would probably win more with Marvin at the 4 and Arthur at the 3.
Nova, just took a quick look at your D.C....very surprised you don't press your ass off with the guys who can get steals on your team.

You offer your guys, but you offer them for way too much. I wanted Arthur+ for Monta (when I was looking to deal him). You seemed ok with that, as long as the '+' was complete shit. You can't say Arthur for Oden and then say you're willing to deal your youth. And again, I honestly don't care what you do, I have so much work to do for tomorrow and my own team to worry about, so I'm really not interested into getting into any type of argument and I think you realize that. But, it really all is about superstars. Aaron's championship team was a fluke, that does not happen. I regret not dealing for one of the veteran superstars this offseason, and can pretty much guarantee I will take one after this season. Youth just doesn't develop into a title contender, because even when you think they've developed great (like Martell and Bargnani averaging 24 each) they're not averaging 30. They're not Kobe, DWade, Dirk, etc. Those are still the best players BY FAR and the teams with them win. I wish I had realized this more 2 weeks ago when the studs were being dealt.

1-3, the only win was over Detroit. Go figure. The Josh Howard broken skull injury is killer. I still think we can at least hang around the playoff picture while he's out. We're 6th right now, but could easily be out of the top 8 by tomorrow.
Started 9-3, now 4-9 since then.

I didn't read all this but just by skimming I bet $20 Nova makes a bad trade within 24hrs trying to improve his team

I didn't read all this but just by skimming I bet $20 Nova makes a bad trade within 24hrs trying to improve his team I've already said a hundred times, I'm not going to make a trade out of frustration or just to shut everyone up, I haven't done that yet, and I don't plan on doing that at all. If I make a trade, it's only because I feel it's worth making & I think it helps my team.

Nova, you spent a lot on getting back your picks and you really have nothing to show for them. If you had a guy like Oden, Durant, Gay, Williams or even a Granger, those trades (getting the picks back) would have been worth while.
You keep telling everyone that you want to be patient with your younger players (which is great), but Barbosa and Johnson aren't really young.
It's evident in this league that you can acqure a superstar rather easily. Guys like Kobe, Dirk, Brand, Duncan etc... were all being shopped cheaply this off-season however you instead went out and picked up 2 mediocre stars.
Your doing okay but your plans don't seem to be working out.

I like Nova, and I think hes done a decent job. I think he needs to stop blaming Chris for what he started with though. he's had the team long enough to make it decent. I think he expected Barbosa to be better. I think the JJ deal was decent. I think he shouldve gone for Brand because I'm not sure either Ibaka or Arthur will ever be as good as Brand is, and will be for the next 3-4 years.
I think he needs a stud player to be a championship type team, but as is he should be a perennial playoff team within 1-3 years.

well, he has one more year... despite the fact that barbosa hasn't exploded yet, the contract he got from whoever had him last is absurd... he's a middle of the road PG making max money in a league where pgs are plentiful

Hes been mostly used as a 3rd or non option in balanced or inside teams in Cleveland. I really expected him to put up 20+ a night.

You keep saying you took over a complete mess, but you haven't improved the team since then. Martinez is the guy that got Marvin Williams and had Travis Outlaw. He's also the guy who paid Hamilton & Parker near max contracts each, and the guy who traded his 08, 09, 10, 11, and 13 1sts when it was still 2005/2006. I've never stated I've done an amazing job, but I think I certainly turned them in the right direction, and have put them on the right track. Could it have been done sooner? Possibly, but I don't feel as if I've done a bad job by any means. Apparently, a lot of people do though, so, if that means I'm gonna get trashed at every turn, so be it. I'm just going to make this guy look like a complete and fucking utter moron. Please excuse me fellas but let me chime in. a)That New Orleans Hornets franchise, at the time, was NOT the worst franchise in the league, see Memphis/Phx. b)I didn't give Rip a max contract... he was part of a trade. Parker got 8mill his first year on a 3 year deal, in his 3rd year he was making 9.7mill, is that a max contract? c)No I did not trade my 08,09,10,11, and 13 1sts. I had my 06,07,09 and 12 when it was still 05/06. So I had 4 1st round picks. So why aren't you saying anything about Lumley who has had ZERO since 05-06. d)Regardless of the past, this is the present, you have had AMPLE amount of time to improve this team. Whatever "mess" I created, should have been fixed by now. You need to stop using me as an excuse and should start blaming yourself for your inability to create a contender. Welcome to the BBS where we have REAL fucking GMs, this isn't your little Kindergarten leagues you're probably used to.

Phoenix was a playoff team at the time, and Memphis was still decent.
Yes you most definitely did deal those picks, because when I took over, all I had was my 2007 1st & 2012 1st. I can tell you that for sure.
However, I will admit that I do need to stop bringing it up, so I will.
