I still don't get this rule even though Ive read over it quite a few times. So I can buy a player out? So like cutting them except their contract stays against my teams total salary?

I think that's basically the gist of it from what I've read in this thread. You can't just cut a guy for free basically without suffering fines.

basically buying out a contract is a way to save future salary cap room. so if you buy out baron davis(for some reason, i dunno, shut up) then you pay for his whole deal in the current year, get rid of him, and never have to see him again.

So what happened exactly? Chi tried to buy out Hedo? Obviously, you he cant do that since that would put his team salary in excess of 100 mil, which is more than the hard cap.

I need to re write the rule for someone because apparently it is unclear. Buy Out: A player can be bought out. Similar to cutting a player, except the total value of the contract is paid in the current year. You are still subject to any salary cap penalties that may ensue, and if you buy out a player at the end of the year, and it puts you over the Hard Cap, you will be forced to pay the Hard Cap penalty. You can only buy out 1 player per year. Any bought out player must go through waivers.this is completely unfair to change this rule at this juncture of the season. This rule should start at the beginning of next season. It's simply unfair fuck you; deal with it. Bitch.
