#1 – Renardo Sidney PF 6'10'' 240 19 B- C C+ B- B- A
Golden State have their starting back court set, as well as reserves for their back court so they will definitely be eyeing a big man in this years draft. Thankfully for them, Renardo Sidney, Kosta Koufus and DeAndre Jordan feature in this draft so as long as they land in the top 3 they should be right. In saying that, Golden State would love to remain in 1st place and select Renardo Sidney. Sidney is the best player in this years draft and is said to have a very sound offensive game, in terms of putting the ball in the hoop and creating shots for other players. Overall, Sidney is the consensus #1 pick.
#2 – Demar DeRozan SF 6'6'' 205 20 B B- C C+ C A
Sidney and DeRozan will most likely be selected 1 and 2. Both players are a cut above the rest of the field both in terms of talent and potential. If Utah land the top pick, they will select Sidney. If they remain at 2, they will have no trouble in selecting their small forward of the future, Demar DeRozan. DeRozan will be able to slot neatly into the teams starting five. Already being compared to the likes of Tracy McGrady and Vince Carter, D2 should flourish in the BBS and provide the Jazz with yet another young stud.
#3 – Kosta Koufos PF 7'1'' 260 21 B- C+ C C C+ A
Koufos’ extremely interesting scoring ratings for a 7 footer will be to much for the Magic to pass in the upcoming BBS draft. The Magic (who are utilising Cleveland’s first round pick) will opt for Kosta over DeAndre Jordan as a) they need a PF more than a C and b) Koufos may be one of the most intregueing players to enter the BBS. He has drawn comparisons to both Mehmet Okur and Dirk Nowitzki due to his outside shot and versatility. Orlando will be hoping that KK develops into the latter.
#4 – Marreese Speights C 6'10'' 245 22 C+ C- D+ B B- A
Houston traded for Nene earlier on in the season but he is no reason for the Rockets to pass up on a talent like Speights. Ideally, they would love to take a guy like Koufus or a talented point guard, but nor Jennings or KK will be available at 4. Speights is similar to long time Rocket Tyson Chandler in his approach to the game and I don’t think they will want to pass up on picking up a similar talent. Speights looks to be a solid and strong defender who can score at a decent rate.
#5 – DeAndre Jordan C 7'0'' 242 20 C+ C- C B- C+ A
I think that Jordan will be unlucky not to be taken in the top 4, but if he doesn’t I can assure you that a team like the Clippers won’t pass up on him. Although they have the Lopez brothers down low, not picking up an elite rookie such as DeAndre because of two ‘good’ talents should be a crime. They are heavily stocked at the PG position so I can’t see them taking Jennings. Also, I think Petteri Koponen is going to explode in TC, just a feeling.
#6 – Al-Farouq Aminu SF 6'8'' 210 19 B- C+ C B- C A
The Jazz will be praying that either Speights of Jordan fall to them at 6, but I honestly can’t see that happening. Speights has excellent ratings and the potential for Jordan to improve is to much to see them drop out of the top 5. The Jazz are covered all over the court, so they are going to have to pick the best player available who isn’t a point guard (Ellis, Ponkrashov, Tinsley, Telfair). Because of this, I see Utah taking Al-Farouq Aminu. Aminu has the flexibility to play the 2, 3 and 4 spots. He is a solid defender who can score both inside and out and should provide the Jazz with a new and different weapon come the playoffs.
#7 – Brandon Jennings PG 6'1'' 170 20 C+ B- B- C D+ A
Indiana are a playoff team. They are covered all over the court. They are offensively weak at the C potision however Diop’s sensational defense and the scoring ability of the rest of the team makes it a non issue. Althoughh they have Gilbert Arenas running the point, I still think that the Pacers take Brandon Jennings at 7. Arenas still holds a lot of value and taking a stud young point guard also sets them up for the future and the ability to form a terrific young trio along with LaMarcus Aldridge and Andrea Bagnani.
#8 – Ed Davis PF 6'9'' 220 21 B- C- C- B- C+ A
Chicago don’t have much young talent down low, so I see them taking Ed Davis over a guy like Alexy Shved. Ed Davis gives the Bulls a gritty player who is a solid defender and inside scorer. He needs to hit the weight rooms, however Davis’ talent is good enough for him to warrant being a top 10 pick.
#9 – JaMychal Green PF 6'8'' 225 20 C+ D+ C- B B B
JaMychal Green may not have the tremendous upside the Victor Claver has, however he also doesn’t hold the risk that the European brings with him either. Green is a very good interior player who will fit alongside Spencer Hawes, Francisco Garcia, Daniels, Taylor and TJ Ford as the new core of the Wizards franchise. Not much is known about Green, although if his potential proves true to its current grade, Green could be a nice player some day.
#10 – Victor Claver PF 6'10'' 218 21 C+ B- C+ C C A
Although he isn’t that much of a gamble, Denver can afford to take Claver at 10 with Atlantas first. Claver is a very solid all round player who I see more as a SF than a PF. He will fit in nicely with Denver’s already nicely built young core and should pick up some valuable playoff experience in the weaker Western Conference this year. I think Claver is going to do just fine in the BBS.
#11 – Alexey Shved PG 6'7'' 170 21 C+ C+ B C+ C A
The Grizzlies franchise will be delighted if they can grab Alexey Shved at 11. They need a young point guard to combine with James White, Gerald Wallace and Kevin Love and I see Shved as the perfect pick. Shved is very tall with incredible handles. I see him as a pure point guard who could definitely benefit from hitting the weight room during his BBS career.
#12 – Taj Gibson PF 6'9'' 210 22 C+ C C B- C+ A
Not much is happening in New Jersey in terms of a direction so they should take the best available player available. Gibson looks like a solid power forward with some potential to improve, so I see the Nets taking him at 12. The Nets are in a lot of trouble at the moment as I would describe them as the epitome of boring.
#13 – Austin Freeman SG 6'4'' 195 22 C+ B- C C+ C- A
After selecting DeAndre Jordan higher up in the draft order, I’d like to see the Clippers draft a wing player. Austin Freeman is the best 2/3 available so it would be smart for them to chose him. He has A potential and a fairly good offensive game. He is average at best but there isn’t much talent from 13 down.
