Team strengths:
- Youth
- Blocks
- Lots of guys who can score
- Backcourt
The Bucks have had one of the youngest teams in the league for a few years. They have had a great rebuilding project that needs to take the next step and make it to the conference finals. They have been the the playoffs twice with this core and the second round once. The Bucks have multiple guys who can get a lot of blocks in a game with Eddie Griffin leading the way and Andris Biedrins, Chris Bosh, Ike Diogu all capable as well. This team is loaded with guys who can explode for double digits in any given game. Carmelo Anthony and Mike Bibby are one of the better backcourts in the league despite never getting much attention. Throw in Adam Morrison, Szymon, Diogu, Bosh, Jameer Nelson, and Biedrins and the Bucks can put up a lot of points on any given night.
Team weaknesses:
- No Second Star
- No Big Bodies Down Low
- Scoring at Center
The Bucks have a superstar in Carmelo Anthony, but no guy to step up an carry the team if he has an off night. Bibby and Bosh are both capable of it on occassion but can't be counted on it everynight. The Bucks really suffer when going up against teams with top centers like Yao, Shaq, Curry, and Bynum. This is likely due to all of them having a major weight advantage over all of the lighter Bucks bigmen. No matter what option that has been tried this year by the Bucks, they have been unsuccessful and generating a consistent scoring option at Center. Eddie Griffin's offense is nonexistent there, Andris Biedrins can't shoot for a descent percent, and Chris Bosh doesn't produce nearly as well or as consistent at the position.
Franchise Player:
Carmelo Anthony
Chris Bosh
Chris Bosh had always been considered a franchise player for the Bucks, but he had never produced or been payed like one. He is now being payed that way but still hasn't quite lived up to the hype. Many people anticipated a breakout season for Bosh this year but it didn't occur. His numbers even took a hit for that matter. Despite the worse production this year, it is likely due to a position change for most of the season for Bosh. He should continue to improve and hopefully break out for the Bucks next year.
Carmelo Anthony is possibly the most underrated superstar in the league. He gets a bad rap due to his poor defensive ratings, but he is so good everywhere else. He is one of the of the leagues top scorers, one of if not the best rebouding SG, and a great passer. He carries the Bucks numerous times a season to victories that they couldn't even dream of without him.
Trade Block:
The Bucks sat on their team this year because of the success they were having up until the trade deadline. The Bucks would like to acquire a big improvement at SG/SF, but with two lotto picks this year it will be hard to do so and give those players any playing time.
Season Outlook:
The Bucks improved this year to the number 4 seed (moving up last year from the #5). The 55 win season is a franchise record and the team should only continue to improve into the future. The Bucks are hoping to advance past the first round and into the conference finals though this will be a very difficult task to complete.
