10. Luke Ridnour
Ridnour is a solid PG that really distributes the ball and gets his teammates involved. Hardly makes mistakes and is extremely efficient. Signing for an extended MLE is a bargain for a player of this caliber who is great off the bench and can even spot start for extended periods of time in case of injury. Every team should be fortunate to have a player like Luke.
9. Peja
Many of you might question Peja being on this list because Peja was one of the bigger busts in BBS' time. Peja never was the max player that people hoped however due to GMs being so turned off at signing Peja he fell for a measly MLE. Peja is still a nice scoring option for a team whether it be in the starting lineup or off the bench as a 6th man. This B/A type scoring combo player can give punch to an anemic offense.
8. Stephen Jackson
Many people laughed when he first got his contract, including myself, but with inflation being a problem in BBS Jackson has stayed at a cool 9 mil. Jax is a very good inside out player with pretty good handles and plays lockdown defense. He can be scoring option and fall into a role very nicely a good piece for any team to have.
7. Jose Calderon
A player who came into the league as a free agent that slid under the radar for a number of years. He didn't develop until after a few seasons in BBS and he has become one of the better PGs of the league. He does a little bit of scoring when asked to and gets all of his teammates involved while playing pretty good defense in the process. At 7-9 mil he is a valued commodity.
6. Marcus Taylor
He should have "He Hate Me" across his back as many are still skeptical believers about the talent of Marcus Taylor. Marcus has consistently put up solid numbers after many believed his numbers were inflated playing for a poor team early in his career however the numbers transferred playing along side one of the league's elite trios.
5. Manu Ginobili
Many of you reading this are saying he makes 13 mil how is he on this list let alone #5? Well Manu is in the fourth year of his contract and it is still only 13 mil and Manu will not make more than 15 mil in the duration of this contract. Pretty good for a guy who was All-League first team and can play 3 different positions. Usually players of this caliber are in the 16-20 range.
4. Tony Battie
One of the leagues best interior defenders which is a key to success at the elite level. Battie oftens gets forgotten due to his ineptness on offense but Battie is an A defender which puts him into a very elite category of big men. At 6 mil Battie is a quite the bargain.
3. Luke Walton
Never quite got his due being on the 6th man on the power house Chicago Bulls but really got his chance to shine being traded to the Houston Rockets. Luke "3D" Walton as new coach AIG likes to call him. Walton was named to All-League 3rd team this season after cracking the starting lineup mid season, very impressive. Luke does a little bit of everything scoring, rebounding, passing and at 6'8 his versatility is outstanding being able to play the 1,2,3 positions while only making barely over 4 mil for the next 3 seasons you can make a strong argument that he should be #1 on this list.
2. Chris Kaman
Kaman is a young up and coming Center in BBS, maybe the best offensively for his age. Scoring 20ppg makes him attractive for any team out there as scoring big centers. He is very efficient on offense and some scouts believe he still has some room to improve at the age of 25. Kaman makes a cap friendly 7 mil topping out at 9mil three years later.
1. Emeka Okafor
Meka is one of the leagues best up and coming low post defenders. Its very surprising he has been on 4 teams already and is only 24 yrs old. Meka is a coaches dream doing whatever he is needed to do to help the team win being an ultimate team player. Meka is an excellent rebounder that plays solid overall defense. Meka is making slightly over 7 mil and will eventually top out at 10 a few seasons down the road. Meka should be the anchor to the Pistons in their eventual championship run.
