Here is my preview of the Pacific. First here is a quick rundown of how I think the division standings will end up being.
1. Golden State
2. LA Lakers
3. Phoenix Suns
4. LA Clippers
5. Portland Trailblazers
6. Sacramento Kings
7. Seattle Sonics
1. Golden State Warriors
The Warriors are coming off another appearance in the BBS Finals with their returning core intact I expect them to win the Pacific. Brevin Knight and Ruben Patterson will give the team extra defense off the bench this year.
2. LA Lakers
The Lakers have a ton of talent that you just have to love. Deron Williams, Danny Granger, Luol Deng, Boris Diaw, and Amare Stoudamire. They recently dealt Brandon Roy for rookie center Hasheem Thabeet who should have a big impact for them this season.
I think the Lakers can put it together this year and play consistent.
3. Phoenix Suns
This is where it gets a lot tougher to pick the teams because none is really much better than the other IMO. However I just like the Suns starting 5 a lot with Stephon Marbury, Mike Finley, Kevin Garnett, Zach Randolph, and Ben Wallace.
4. LA Clippers
The Clippers have made some big changes now that they have Baron Davis on board. Him and Jermaine O'Neal should make a great outside/inside combination. Along with key veterans such as Bonzi Wells and Lamar Odom and I think they have a fine team that could be better than 4th.
5. Portland Trailblazers
I like the Blazers talent. Taysan Prince and Tracy McGrady are nice wing players. DeShawn Stevenson is a fine backup who could fetch them a solid starting big man. They still have DeSagana Diop to patrol the paint and Jason Kidd will direct them this year replacing Stephon Marbury.
6. Sacramento Kings
I think that the Kings, heck all these teams, have the talent that they can move a player or two around and move up in the standings but as it stands right now I feel they are to wards the bottom of the Pacific, sorry Lums.
7. Seattle Sonics
They have good players with Jason Terry, Allen Iverson, Al Harrington, and Brad Miller. Hopefully Sharrod Ford has a good year for them. I think the Sonics can easily be much better then last place in the Pacific so if they end up better than this I will not be surprised.
Well there you have it. Hopefully no one takes these personnel. Hopefully I can have all four divisions done tonight.
