With the trade deadline fast approaching here is a look at the BBS trading block. Some big names are on the market that could help out teams.
Chris Webber
The Pacers are in re building mode and are looking to trade the 33 year old veteran forward. Webber is averaging 17 points and 11 rebounds on the year. He is one of the better passing big men in the league. He has 4 year and nearly 80 million dollars left on his current contract.
Teams with interest: Not for sure of the teams who want Webber however could the Toronto Raptors have some interest? They could use a good big man like Webber to make a stronger push for the Finals.
Steve Francis
Francis was acquired by the Dallas Mavericks and put on the trading block right away. Many GMs are down on him as he has great talent but usually doesn't perform well. The Mavs are his 4th team since last off season. However Francis did sim well for the Mavs, putting up great numbers and some near triple doubles, so maybe there is a team that will take a chance on him.
Teams with interest: Teams with interest in Francis is unknown to me. However if he continues to perform well someone will take a chance on him.
Corey Maggette
With Nate Robinson coming on and taking over the starting shooting guard spot Maggette is expandable. The Nets have many players due for contract extensions over the next two years and could like to move Maggette. Maggette is young and solid all around.
Teams with interest: The Spurs showed some interest but a deal was not reached due to salaries. No other possible suitors have shown up.
Charlie Villanueva
One of the Piston's many young talented forwards. CV is an emerging player just waiting for the chance to showcase his talents.
Teams with interest: There seems to be a number of teams who have made offers however no deal has been announced yet. Surely someone will get him by the deadline.
Michael Finley
Finley is a veteran swing man with good years left in him. He shoots the ball well from the outside but can defend and is capable of playing some point guard. He has a reasonable contract, 2 years and 10 million dollars. A team needing a solid player and looking to avoid the hard cap over the next few years may look to Finley with his contract expiring after next season.
Teams with interest: Not sure who wants Finley but the Knicks are a team that could use him. The Pacers are in re building mode so it's likely they want expiring contract(s), and picks or youth.
Hawks Point Guards
The Hawks have a lot of point guards and are looking to deal them. Rumor has it that Jordan Farmar, Jamaal Tinsley, Speedy Claxton, Brevin Knight, and Travis Diener are all on the trading block.
Teams with interest: No one seems to have shown interest but surely someone will. Could the Lakers use a veteran point guard to mentor Deron Williams and Devin Harris? Maybe. The Hawks are asking for picks after 2008 and RCs.
Josh Smith
The talented Nuggets forward is on the block. Smith is a lock down defender who is improving on his offensive game, rebounding, and consistency.
Teams with interest: There seems to have been some interest in Smith from the Pistons and Bucks but nothing has come close to happening it seems. The Nuggets are looking to a young center with defense.
Travis Outlaw
Not for sure if Outlaw is still on the block but at least he was. Outlaw is a long and athletic forward who scores inside and shuts his man down on defense. He is averaging 17 points, 2 steals, and nearly 2 blocks per game.
Teams with interest: A lot of teams showed interest in Outlaw. The Pacers, Bucks, Kings, Ratpors, and Knicks all seemed to have inquired about Outlaw.
A lot of good players on the market. Should be interesting to see if any playoff contenders can help themselves make a stronger run for the post season.
