From the Atlantic....
Boston - The Celtics are very disappointed in what Shaq has given them. Although it isn't necessarily his fault, the Celtics are hovering below 500, and realistically aren't any better then they would've been with Andrew Bynum. Why? Insiders aren't sure, but expect the Celtics to be movers and shakers as the deadline approaches.
Miami - The Heat have been stagnant all year. They worked hard in the offseason to get younger, and in doing that they've guaranteed a spot in the lotto. The thing is, if they don't land Greg Oden or Kevin Durant dos this team have a future? Martell Webster and Louis Williams are both intriguing prospects, but no one else on the Heat roster looks "special".
New Jersey - Surrounded by mystery, the Nets franchise had been left in disarray with the mysterious absence of their GM Skillz. Rommie has done an admirable job stepping in, but really only Caron Butler has saved this franchise from being much worse off. Butler seems to be a legit star player now, and once Chris "The Caveman" Kaman gets back expect the Nets to start playing better.
New York - The Knicks main focus should be this year, but most people watching the Knicks seem more interested in seeing how well the 2 lotto picks they own turn out. Both are legit contenders for the top 2 picks in a draft that looks to be 2 deep in superstars. As much as the Knicks think they can compete this year with their current roster, the front office is salivating at the thought of adding Greg Oden or Kevin Durant.
Orlando - The Magic seem to be close to completing their most recent rebuild, but seem to lack a play making point guard. They are very strong on the wings, and in the front court, now they need to add a legit 1 who can handle and score. But who? A quick look around the league and you'll see quality point guards are few and far between, but players like Sam Cassell, Jason Hart, or Marcus Taylor could fit the bill. Or maybe even a bigger deal for Deron Williams.
Philadelphia - The Sixers are the worst team in the league, so there main focus is on Oden and Durant. Oden would be the perfect fit, but even Kevin Durant would be nice at PF. If they don't land either, they'll have to invent new ways to take the next step in their rebuilding process. Green may be the elite talent you need to win in the BBS, but they still need upgrades at C, PF and PG to be a legit playoff team.
Washington - The Wizards are having a horrible year. While Antoine Walker is still playing at an elite level, Paul Pierce has disappeared. He seems to have lost any play making ability he had, and his shot is now just mediocre. Pierce has got to be the biggest bust so far this year in the BBS. Because the Wizards do have tons of talent, they should be able to turn it around relatively quickly, but they wont win this year unless they get another scorer to help out Walker.
