The date was June 21st. Skillz, the NJ GM was nowhere to be found. The league was worried and concerned for his well-being. Spence, temporarily assumed duties for the NJ franchise til a replacement was found. This is the last remaining trade done by Skills. bballsim06.proboards89.com/index.cgi?board=trades&action=display&thread=1182395103
Spencer took the approach that NJ was going nowhere anytime, and started the re-building process. Then a consistent replacement was found by the name of Rommie.
Rommie started up the trading bonanza, by dealing the young talent in Jay Williams for and older center in Magloire and a bench player in Ricky Sanchez. The NJ Nets fans, were unsure of the team's direction. He then dealt for an upcoming player in McCants dealing not only Steve Francis, once a franchise player, but also a future solid player in Luke Ridnour. This infuriated the league, and the franchise was becoming a wreck. The Nets then helped the rich become richer. The Detroit Pistons acquired Theo Ratliff for an extremely brutal contract in Peja Stojakovic, plus several upgrades. The Nets fans, were about to light their torches and burn Rommie's ass. Yet again, he was out trading players again. Francis was on the move in exchange for Maggette/Hudson. So once again the fans were swayed back and forth from contender to pretender.
Rommie has become a bit dormant trading wise since then. Maybe he was just trade happy for that brief period of time? Maybe he just realized, his team was so bad, that he couldn't salvage it? The question is, is he on the hot seat?? Can any GM save this franchise from disarray? Will Rommie pull a disappearing act, when the going gets bad?
