The New Jersey Nets stood at 10-10 and 2nd place in the Atlantic Division when both Chris Kaman and Jamaal Maglorie went down with injuries. Kaman was estimated to be out almost 7 weeks with a bulging disc and Maglorie is supposed to be out almost 3 weeks with a fractured hip. Both injuries are big losses for the Nets.
Kaman is the teams best big man and second leading scorer. He was averaging 18 points and 10 rebounds per game. He was able to help take the pressure off of Caron Butler and let him play freely. They were a good outside-inside combination.
"It makes things tougher for me. I really wish Chris was back already" said Butler. "But we still have a job to do. We still can win games. Swift, Nate, Jose, Corey, and myself will just have to step up. Mo was brought in here and he can score in the paint."
Maglorie is a scoring and rebounding big who gave the Nets a big lift coming off the bench. He was averaging 11 points and 7 rebounds in only 20 minutes per game.
"Losing Jamaal hurts us. He was playing great as our 6th man. Thankfully he comes back soon. We really miss his scoring down low and rebounding especially with Chris out." stated GM Rommie.
Mo Taylor was added and has done great. Averaging 14 points and 7 rebounds he has helped the Nets a lot and has did his best in a tough spot. Hopefully he can keep up the good work.
The Nets have gone 3-5 without Kaman and Maglorie. But they have a very tough schedule a head of them. They will have to face the Bulls three times, the Raptors twice, as well as the Knicks and Rockets.
Things get worse though. Chris Kaman won't be back until around day 83. Almost 30 more games to play without Kaman. The Nets looked like they could win 40 games this year but not anymore. The injuries have devastated the team and killed any chance they had at making the playoffs.
