Question I had for Spence last night: can we use the MLE during the year or is it limited to the offseason? Teams in the NBA do this, as some teams were looking to use their unused MLE money on Webber when the Sixers bought him out.
Teams can save their MLEs for the season and use it on players bought out or cut, allowing the team with the most money, not worst record, to pick up a player.
Thoughts?

I dont think you can offer a player the MLE in the season with FBB, doesnt work like that..

I can edit it.
Just sign a player, then up his salary to 4.5.

If it doesn't become to much work then sure.

Well I love this rule because there are times where you offer an MLE to a player in free agency and the player doesn't sign and you get screwed. I think the MLE contract is important for some teams as a contract to trade. I also think if you have cap space in the season you should be able to sign a player to multi year deal if he is available.

what are the reasons against it? i've tried thinking of a few, but have come up empty, with the exception of too much work for spence.

Keep it simple. Having everyone offering different types of years and salary could end up with yet another bitch war around here.

Im ok with the MLE thing, but I dont want to get carried away. if there are too many options or rules then it isnt fun anymore.

Don't see the point in it and I envision it getting too complicated for spence.

the only thing i can see is two teams with the mle putting in for a player. if that happens, team with the worst record gets him?

Why would someone want to pay 4.5mil when they could pay minimum? lol I'm lost... because when you need to add salary to a deal chances are 4.5 mill is alot more useful than 500k-1mill...

yea it sounds like a good idea when you dont get your MLE in the off-season...it could serve as a nice salary filler in-season
