Franchise Player: Stephon Marbury I would have to consider the franchise player of this team. Though an ageing veteran he is putting up monster numbers each year. Last season he had 19 ppg, 10 apg, and just under four boards, with a 10/3 turnover ratio. This season I expect the same production with high ppg, he is the leader and spark of this team and needs to perform to his best capabilities for us to succeed. Though he started off shaky in the first sim, I see him turning it around.
Strengths-Though a big concern for us last season was our front court, and its depth, I think we addressed that problem this year. Emeka Okafor improvements in training camp have made him one of the brightest young big men in this league; While DeSagana Diop is on the verge of a breakout season. We still have guys contributing like vet Erick Dampier, sophomore Chuck Hayes and rookie Shavlik Randolph. We should be a very strong defensive team, and rebounding team this season.
Weaknesses- We do seem to lack scoring this season as our big scoring producer Jason Richardson was shipped to acquire Diop and Larry Hughes. While Larry Hughes can put up about 20 ppg, our 3 spot is still weak and is barely hitting 10 ppg. We may try to see how rookie Ronnie Brewer does there or even Quentin Richardson. We do not steal that often either, but we need to address this scoring issue first.
Team Outlook- So far things do not look to well, but I can see us turning this around. I figure we will make the playoffs this year one way or another. I do not know how far we can go, but the west usually is always up for grabs so we may surprise some people. In a year or two, I see Diop and Okafor being one of the most feared big men in the league.
Trade Block- I am looking to get another scoring guard, I could deal like Larry Hughes plus to get an upgrade if anyone is interested in that. Brewer can go possibly, Bobby Simmons too.
