Team strengths: - Interior defense - Rebounding - Complete offense
Ben Wallace and Tim Duncan give Indiana its identity with their defensive dominance and rebounding. Everybody in the line-up can score, and the team has two great point guards, which should ensure efficiency.
Team weaknesses: - Perimeter defense - Team passing
Even with the new point guards aboard, it comes at the loss of KG and Grant Hill and Michael Finley have both declined. It's unlikely to see this team slowing the pace down as in years past. The perimeter defense could be worse, but could be better.
Franchise Player: Tim Duncan
The reigning (and two time) defensive player of the year, as well as former MVP and many other awards, Tim Duncan has been one of the best BBS has seen. Look for him to have his best offensive season yet.
Trade Block: Mike Bibby is the main guy being shopped. At some point Michael Finley or Grant Hill could be shopped. Either way look for one wing or guard to go. If this team plays badly it may be broken up before the deadline, in favor of the rebuilding route.
Season Outlook: The Pacers are a championship caliber team on paper. That's not enough in the eastern conference. Whether this team is elite or not is going to be the big question. The expectations are there though, as this is the last season before this roster will be broken up. They have every component in place to win.
