Say good bye to Steve Francis. He is no longer a New Jersey Net.
Say hello to Corey Maggette and Troy Hudson. The Nets acquired both from Seattle in exchange for Francis and seldom used backups Joey Graham and Ricky Sanchez.
"We didn't feel that this was a good situation for Steve so we decided to deal him. We think that Corey and Troy can help improve our club. We finally get a true starting caliber two guard and that alone will make our team better. Troy is a very good long range shooter who knows what it takes to win." stated Rommie.
Franics was the leader and go to guy on the Nets and with all his incredible talents seems to perform poorly especially considering his contract.
"We will save some money by doing this deal. Over 20 million dollars. On top of that Corey is a couple years younger than Steve and we feel that him and Caron will give us two very good swing men."
The Nets should be better on defense. Maggette is a capable defender at the two. He has nice size and athletic ability to stay with his man. He adds to the Nets young core of Nate Robinson, Caron Butler, Chris Kaman, and Robert Swift.
The Nets still need to balance their roster out. They still have four point guards. Hopefully they can find a taker for one or two of them. Maybe add a couple for wards.
Troy Hudson could be one of the point guards dealt but the Nets may decide they like his veteran presence on their team. It is known they want to get rid of Luke Ridnour and Jose Calderon could also go.
For the Sonics they now have one of the most dynamic back courts in the league with Steve Franics and Allen Iverson. Now that Franics no longer has to be the go to guy hopefully he performs much better.
Hopefully the deal works out for both clubs.
