Selection: Brandon Roy - 1st Pick
The Lakers got extremely lucky and jumped up from the #2 pick they were projected at getting into the #1 spot. The Lakers had a no-brainer here, with Brandon Roy clearly standing out as this years top pick. The only problem is, the Lakers are set at the wings for years to come with Luol Deng, Boris Diaw, and even Danny Granger. Unless the Lakers decide to go with a small and extremely athletic lineup of Deron Williams/Brandon Roy/Luol Deng/Boris Diaw/Amare Stoudemire, the Lakers are going to have to move one of their wings for some help down low.
A+ Pick, but B- Fit.
Selection: Rudy Gay - 2nd Pick
Another no-brainer here as the Sixers have no legitimate small forward on their roster. The Gay/Green combo should be a dominant force for years to come, and should rival such tandems as Deng/Diaw/Roy, Artest/Prince/LBJ, Kobe/Vince, and Dirk/Joe Johnson.
A+ Pick, A+ Fit
Selection: Tyrus Thomas - 3rd Pick
Definitely the most surprising pick of the draft, as many people thought that LaMarcus Aldridge would be the first big man selected. The Heat went out on a limb by selecting the young and unproven Tyrus Thomas. Thomas should develop into a defensive animal down low, and hopefully develop some sort of offensive game within the next 2 or 3 yeas. The one problem I have with this pick is that I believe the Heat could have traded down several times to wait for Thomas, while also acquiring several draft picks along the way.
B Pick, A- Fit.
Selection: Andrea Bargnani - 4th Pick
The Jazz were definitely happy to see Bargnani fall to them at #4, when it was expected by many that he could be chosen at #3. Bargnani fits in well with the Jazz roster, as he'll team up with Andre Iguodala. The only other logical pick here would have been LaMarcus Aldridge since the Jazz are lacking a big body to play the PF. Bargnani will be the 4th international player on the Jazz's roster.
B+ Pick, A Fit.
Selection: Randy Foye - 5th Pick
With Larry Hughes' contract expiring at the end of this year, the Knicks intelligently took Randy Foye to fill the future void. Foye will be sort of a combo PG/SG with Tony Parker, which will provide tremendous speed and driving ability to the basket.
A- Pick, A- Fit
Selection: LaMarcus Aldridge - 6th Pick
Horrendous pick. He's an absolute failure. According to some, he likes penis in his mouth...fuck, I can't lie. This is probably the best pick in the draft. LaMarcus plummeted all the way down to 6, when it seemed he was a lock to go top 3. The Lakers did everything they could to try to pry away Aldridge from the Magic, but the Magic wouldn't bite.
Pick A+, Fit A-
Selection: Ronnie Brewer - 7th Pick
Originally belonging to the Los Angeles Lakers, the Lakers traded the pick to the Blazers in exchange for the 2007 Kings Pick and the 2008 Clippers Pick, since there were no more dominant big men in the draft.
Following the trade of Luol Deng, the Blazers seemed to lack 3 clear cut scorers, and the drafting of Ronnie Brewer seems to be a reaction to just that. Hopefully Brewer can develop nicely into a solid scorer to help take some of the pressure off of Marbury and J-Rich.
Pick B, Fit A
Selection: Sergio Rodriguez - 8th Pick
The Bucks are set with Melo, Bosh, and Biedrins leading the team, but they lack a top PG to help distribute the ball. The Bucks are hoping that import Sergio Rodriguez will be the guy that Jameer Nelson hasn't been, and limit turnovers and maximize assists in order to make a push in the Central Division.
Pick B+, Fit A-
Selection: Raymond Felton - 9th Pick
Similarly to the Bucks, the Magic don't seem to have a true PG to captain the offense. Mo Williams has been solid, but he's definitely not a franchise PG. Raymond Felton was a tremendous PG at North Carolina, and they Magic are hoping that his success at UNC will translate into success in the NBA. They're still gay for drafting Aldridge.
Pick B+, Fit B+
Selection: Thabo Sefolosha - 10th Pick
The Magic had yet another pick, and this time decided to try and bolster the wing position. With Michael Redd and his massive contract clearly not cutting it, the Magic drafted Sefolosha to help bring some youth and provide some depth to a horrendous team. Aaron is gay.
