#7 Denver Nuggets (Ducky)
vs
#1 Golden State Warriors (James)
The Matchup:
The Warriors enter the West Finals highly confident after taking out the Sonics and Suns in rounds one and two. While the Nuggets have enjoyed a wild ride, winning two monumental game sevens against the Mavs and Blazers to land them in the conference finals. Although this series may seem a bit like David and Goliath there is still a slight chance for upset if certain strategies are enforced.
Key Players:
Pau Gasol C Nuggets- The reason the Nuggets are here is the reason they will need him again this series. They will have to rely on him to beat the Warriors' big men and carry the team to victory. Gasol has been a leading scorer in these playoffs and should explode on some of the mediocore Warrior bigs.
Kobe Bryant G Warriors- Mr. Bryant has not really seen a lockdown defender yet in this postseason but should feel the prescence of Josh Smith. If he can make adjustments and get Baron Davis and Vince Carter involved, it should be a ticket to the Finals for the Warriors.
Keys to the Series:
Nuggets
-Have Josh Smith try to control Kobe
-Do not let the rest of the team beat you on offense
-Make your bigs beat their big men
Warriors
-Keep the offensive focus around Kobe, Davis, Carter
-Have your bigs keep rotating to defend Gasol and Kirilenko
-Keep the turnovers down
Result:
Warriors win series 4-2- The Nuggets will put up a fight but they are vulnerable with Delonte West defensively at point guard against Baron Davis and there only chance may be with Pau Gasol and Andrei Kirilenko. However the Warriors bigs have proven to be strong and know their roles enough to keep advancing to the ultimate prize.
Projected Lineups:
DEN
C Pau Gasol
PF Andrei Kirilenko
SF Stephen Jackson
SG Josh Smith
PG Delone West
GSW
C Scott Pollard
PF Aaron Williams
SF Vince Carter
SG Kobe Bryant
PG Baron Davis
