The Sequel, was not as successful as the first story.
Detroit entered GM 4 down 2 games to 1. The crowd in Detroit was raucous yet again, expecting a win to even up the series at 2 games to 2. Lebron stepped onto the court with poise and a bit of anger in face, striving to lead his team to the victory. After 1 quarter, Detroit had found no ways to score efficiently and had buried itself into a 13 point deficit. The second quarter there was better defense, but still a lack of scoring. They entered halftime down 11. In the 3rd quarter, they made a huge run, even tying the game with 3 minutes to go in the quarter. Lebron James made a huge bucket at the time, to give Detroit a 4 point lead, but the lead would be short-lived. NY ended the quarter on a 10-2 run and finished the quarter up by 4. The fourth quarter was fierce back and forth action with many runs. Detroit tied it 2 minutes into quarter, which was followed by a 10-0 run by NY to take a 10 point lead. Detroit however would not give in just yet, going on their 10-2 run, cutting it to as close as 1. The score remained close til a 3 pointer was made by Tony Parker with 2 minutes to go. Free throws down the stretch extended the lead, and the NY Knicks won by the score of 109-100. Detroit now had to try to dig themselves out of a deep 3 games to 1 hole.
Gm 5 was finally here. NY Knicks fans were excited and on their feet, looking to go for the kill against their nemesis the Detroit Pistons. From the start we knew who the dominant team was. NY started the game on a 15-0 run. And from there on it seemed like Detroit could never recover. Detroit trailed by double digits, 10 at the end of the quarter. Shot after shot knocked down by NY, extended there lead to as much as 20. Detroit made a nice run by halftime to cut it to 6. The lead was however re-extended in the 3rd quarter to as much as 15, but yet again Detroit did not give up and trailed by 4 at the end of 3. The 4th quarter looked to be tense then, but NY just dominated, outscoring Detroit 29-14 and leaving them in the dust. The final score: Knicks 115, Detroit 96.
The Detroit players left the floor frustrated and upset. The Knicks celebrated this great defeat. After talking to GM Outlaws he was quoted saying, "This is a big win for the franchise. The team came together and got the job done. It was great to give our home fans joy, and to finish it off here in the greatest city, NY."
The joyride and miracle for Detroit had ended. GM Reilley was frustrated but partly accepted the loss and gratiously wished NY the best of luck for the rest of the playoffs.
