"To all the fans and all of the detractors of the Los Angeles Lakers...
We have hit a pivotal crossroads of our franchise history. It seems like yesterday we were hoisting the trophy in triumph above our heads after upsetting the Detroit Pistons in the championship. It seems like only a couple of hours ago that we were sitting in our locker room bloody, sweaty, and tearful after getting knocked out in the finals by the Toronto Raptors. We played both championships without our main attraction, Mr. Kobe Bryant, and we decided that due to his injury prone playoff history, it was time to rid ourselves of the burden. While he may be succeeding elsewhere, we stand by our move, and we hope that it will only make us stronger in seasons to come.
(The crowd erupts with a mixed reaction full of cheers, jeers, and screaming)
We stand here today as spectators, not viewers of the BBS playoffs. We stand here today as rebuilders, not contenders. We stand here today, as a team that shall be victorious and be feared for years to come.
The jeers seem to be decreasing, while the crowd begins chanting the name of their General Manager... Her-Nan-Do! Her-Nan-Do!
We had turned Kobe Bryant, a proven star and hall-of-famer, into our point guard for the future, Deron Williams.
The crowd begins to wave their Deron Williams jerseys in the air with pride
We turned Kobe Bryant into what we thought was our future center in Emeka Okafor, before we decided to part ways with him, in order to bring in the younger, more athletic, Luol Deng.
Lu-ol...Lu-ol...Lu-ol!
We turned that same Kobe Bryant into what is currently being projected as the #2 pick in this years BBS Draft. Not to mention we are also projected for the #6 pick in this years BBS Draft!
The crowd goes wild, with different sections of fans screaming different names. The Gay-Guys on one side, the Roy-Toys on another.
That same player, was turned into Miami's 2007 First round pick, which we recently traded for Devin Harris and Danny Granger, two amazing looking players that can provide extreme versatility and athleticism for years to come.
We further rid ourselves of the old, when we traded our leader Steve Nash for cap relief and more picks, picks that well allow us to grow stronger and stronger for many seasons.
Lakers fans, today is your day. Tomorrow will be your day. And everyday for years and years, you will be proud to say "I am a fan of Amare Stoudemire. I am a fan of Boris and Luol. I am a fan of Deron Williams... I, am a fan of the Los Angeles Lakers."
The crowd goes wild! Cheers are heard throughout all of Los Angeles. A reaction this loud hasn't been heard since the fall of the Berlin Wall.
