Midwest Division
Dallas Mavericks
Lets hope for their suck, Skillz agrees to the Nets trade because in regards to the future, in regards to their economic situation and in regards to winning somewhere between now and forever, the Mavs are in trouble. Their best player is averaging 14ppg, and that’s Nick Van Exel whos old ass earns $29,790,000 over the next 3 years. Ill sum up Dallas by saying that their best young prospect is Trevor Ariza or Darius Miles and their best players are Dahntay Jones or Nick Van Exel.
Final Grade: D
Denver Nuggets They really need to get a plan and stick with it. I really liked their young trio of Livi-Bron-Smith however they decided to break it up by dealing the King, winning just barely over 42 games this year, and early playoff exits over the next 4 seasons. I mean, they have a decent team but just lack something to really push them over the edge. In saying that, they are a top 3 talent wise team in the West with a better future than 50% of the league and a winning record.
Final Grade: B (Not sure, maybe a B-)
Houston Rockets
The Rockets just added Nash to Jamison/Fortson/Chandler. I think it was a great move and puts them in the top 4 in the West in terms of talent. They need to gell if they want to proceed deep into the playoffs and I think they will with a veteran PG at the helm.
Final Grade: B
Minnesota Timberwolves
Seriously, as if anyone would ever go to watch this team play. A game between Minny and Dallas would draw a crowd of around 45 people, 30 of them being school children who were given free tickets by the franchise and a cheap day off school. They have their pick next year is the only good thing I can say about them.
Final Grade: D-
San Antonio Spurs
Billups and Marion is a decent combo but shouldn’t be the second best one, record wise in the West. Okur can’t block anything even if his life depended on it and Maurice Evans is a poor excuse for a starter. Id like to see Shareef dealt for something that can define the franchises movement.
Final Grade: C+
Utah Jazz
Al Jeff, Iguodala and Ellis is a pretty sweet trio. They will add another lottery prospect to this trio this coming off season and hopefully, they can fill the lineup with a top tier FA. They are heading in the right direction. If I were them, I’d do anything to get their 07 pick back, suck for another year and complete their youthful lineup.
Final Grade: B
Memphis Grizzlies
This team has talent. Theres no excusing that. Allen, McDyess, Lewis and Terry are all great players. It’s obvious that the problem in Memphis is chemistry. Because of this, I’d like to see them deal for a really good point guard and start losing contracts. Financially they are in the shitter which is why they should try and compete next year.
Final Grade: D+
