With the playoffs close and the season nearly ending, the 8th seed in both conferences is still up for grabs. In the East you have Cleveland, Milwaukee and Boston. In the West you have Houston, Seattle and Sacramento.
Why they get in??
East:
Cleveland - They just acquired a solid PF in David West, who can give them another inside presence. When you add that to a core of Gerald "blocks everything" Wallace, Leandro "speedy gonzalez" Barbosa, and Ben "Mr. Clutch" Gordon, how can you go wrong? Kmart also as a vet on the team, is a blocking presence as well and can score too. Raef, a big that can score 3's is always nice as well.
Milwaukee - Eddie Griffin is a blocking and rebounding machine. Bosh and Carmelo are stud scorers. Jameer Nelson has played great at the 1, running the position very smoothly, with less than 3 TOPG. Kapono is a solid scorer off the bench and as a sixth man. Vaughn is a serviceable backup to Nelson. Biedrins is a young and upcoming big who will be solid soon. Harrington serves as another option off bench, mainly for scoring.
Boston - Stud bigs in Dwight and Andrew. Gadz gives them a great blocking presence. Hermann has been putting up impressive #'s that noone expected. Josh Howard continues to give them solid production. Papa has been a nice surprise as well, with only a little over 2 TOPG.
West:
Houston - Tyson Chandler is a stud blocker/boarder. D Forston is a walking double double a night. A Jam at an advanced age is still a scorer. Marquis Daniels, scoring, wow? Earl Boykins, although not a typical PG, runs the fort like Avery Johnson would, small and in charge. And now with the acquistion of J Will, even more PG depth.
Seattle - Battie can still block and board. Brandon is a stud 1 and AI is a stud 2, who can pass. RJ is a decent option and Trent is chipping in 15+ ppg along with 9+ brds.
Sacramento - Jason Kidd runs the show now, and makes any team a contender for a playoff spot right away. Boozer is a rebounding and scoring beast. ZO/Miller are blocking machines that can score too. Paul as a #1 pick, producing immediately and will be great after learning from the future HOF Jason Kidd.
