After two trades, one blockbuster, fell through the New Jersey Nets could still make big changes.
"We are exploring opitions right now and hopefully we can make a deal or two before the deadline." said interim GM Rommie.
"We like the young guys on the team. We won our last 2 games with Caron having a huge game against the Bucks scoring 44 points, a career high for him. We like Kaman, Nate, and even Swift. However if someone makes a good offer for em we would have to consider it."
Steve Francis and Theo Ratliff are the players that are rumored to be shopped the most.
"We are looking to trade them. But not a ton of interest has been expressed in either of them, atleast not great offers. Teams don't like parting with young talent or good draft picks so it's difficult to move either right now."
"I'd love to be able to be a player in free agency. We like some guys out there. We feel that is the quickest way to re build this team. We don't have our own draft pick for a few years which is going to really kill us in the win column. But we have a very young team who will only get better."
Hopefully the Nets get something done and start to turn the franchise in the right direction.
Other news and notes around the league...
The Dallas Mavericks have quickly been changing their team with some big trades. They have brought in Sam Cassell, Reggie Evans and a variety of picks, traded for Alonzo Mouring and quickly shipped him to the Kings for Primoz Brezec and Keith Closs giving the Mavs two players well over 7 feet to patrol the paint.
Minnesota Timberwolve Lonny Baxter recently had a season ending injury by tearing an ACL. Baxter was having a huge year for the Timberwolves averging 18 points and nearly 10 rebounds. Hopefully he can come back next year and have a big year for them.
