This is Jeremy Blumstein, host of Triple Threat. Today the competition is between Duce, Dan and Ducky. The best response by a contestant will receive 3 points while the worst will receive one point. The contestant with the most points at the end of 5 questions wins.
#1: What position would you build your team around?
Duce: Point Guard. It's the single most important part of the team. An offense is nothing without it and everything with it, regardless of how much talent you have outside of that position.
Dan: Well FBB is really fond of the point guard position, but instead I am going in the route of a true big man. It is really hard to find a really good big men that does it all for you, and that is something I would build my team around, something I have been trying to find. Guys like Amare, Yao,Kg, Duncan,Emeka, some others, thats the way I think is the best at this point.
Ducky: In sim leagues, I'd go with a great PG. FBB highly overrates PGs, so even though he seems to been equal talent to any other position, he will always have the upper hand. I also think PGs are most important, because once you have a PG who can distribute the ball and not turn the ball over, you will win even with crap players at the other positions. But in BBS, the lack of very talented big men, makes this position important, so I'd build my team around a center. A perfect example would be my Nuggets. We have a good talent all around, but until we get that stud center, I don't think we will ever do much. So yeah, definitely Center is the position I'd want to build my team around. As for the NBA, a dominant big man takes over a game. If you got a good big man, your bound to win.
Tough decision, but 3 points to Dan, 2 points to Ducky and 1 point to Duce. Center is definitely the position to build around, Amare is great type of piece to start with.
Current Standings:
#1: Dan - 3 points
#2: Ducky - 2 points
#3: Duce - 1 point
#2: Who will be the best sleeper pick in the 1st round of this year's nba draft?
Duce: Between Conley and Noah, I'll go with Conley. A couple high teams, including the Hawks and Celtics are going to be missing out on a very good point guard. He's not the next Chris Paul/Deron Williams but he is very solid.
Dan: I think I would have to go with Rodney Stuckey out of eastern Washington. Strong guard and he is pretty quick, should be interesting to see where he goes.
Ducky: Well, I really don't want to comment on my #1 sleeper, since I made him a sleeper in UOSL2. I'll give you someone else. Al Thornton. My first impressions on this guy was he is OK at everything. But I've changed my mind about this guy. I really didn't think he was any good until I watch a few games of him. He is hard to defend because he can shoot from anywhere, and physically hes a beast. He has a nice unique game and I think he'll find himself a starting job in the NBA within the next few years.
Another tough choice, but again Dan 3 points, Duck 2 points and Duce 1 point. Stuckey seems to be a better sleeper to me than Thornton and I believe Conley will be good and possibly a great player one day, so I don't consider him a sleeper at all.
Current Standings:
#1: Dan - 6 points
#2: Ducky - 4 points
#3: Duce - 2 points
#3: If you had to pick any retired player, when he was in his prime, who would it be?
Duce: Michael Jordan. I don't think I need to explain here but Jordan was unstoppable and the best player I have ever seen play the game of basketball.
Dan: Michael Jordan, one of the, if not the best player to play the game. so many great things to say about him.
Ducky: Are you serious J? i give a fuck less retired players that. MJ. I don't need my reasons. He has enough rings to fit on gollums fingers. Enough said.
Consensus here, 3 points to Duce, 2 to Dan and 1 to Duck.
Current Standings:
#1: Dan - 8 points
Tied for #2: Ducky and Duce - 5 points
Getting interesting.
#4: Do you think the NBA today gets a bad reputation?
Duce: I think every sport has a good side and bad side. If you choose to focus on the bad part of the NBA that's your deal. Right now the NBA has a lot of star players and a lot of legitimate teams and teams on the rise. It's more enjoyable to me than it's ever been.
Dan: Not so much lately, I feel as the NFL is getting alot of bad rep with these guys getting in trouble with the law so often and just alot of that shit in general. So no, not really as it use to.
Ducky: I really don't think NBA has a bad reputation, if you look at all the other leagues, they have their own problems, if not worse problems. The NHL gets no love, so we are not going to even mention them. The NFL is full of idiots like Pac-Man Jones, Michael Vick, and Tank Johnson who do retarded things and ruin the leagues and teams reputation. The NFL is a mess. And the MLB is full of steroid users, I have no respect for anyone in the MLB anymore, except for Ichiro, I mean if he was taking steroids and used a corked bat, I guarantee he'd be at 500 HRs right now. As for the NBA, they have no serious problems like other professional leagues. In fact, I think they are getting even better. Take a look at the jail blazers. 3-4 years ago, they were full of druggies, hippies, and duckies, now they have a great young core, who are really nice guys (excluding Zbo/Miles). The NBA has done a great job IMO of keeping a solid reputation. I think the dress code was definitely a big step in improving their image. Props to Stern.
Easy choice, 3 points to Ducky, 2 points to Duce, 1 point to Dan.
Current Standings:
#1 - Dan - 9 points
#2 - Ducky - 8 Points
#3 - Duce - 7 points
Can Dan hang onto his lead?
#5: What contract year team will not surive this year?
Duce: It's the last thing that I want to happen but I believe Denver is very much screwed. They had a better chance of winning with the team they had than the team they traded for desperately. And now because they gave up their future(draft picks, James, etc.) I seriously doubt Spencer will have pity for that situation, although it
Dan: Grizzlies man. They need to make the playoffs are they are tossed, they are in the west, but even so, doesn't look to good. 's not really my place to say, but that is my guess.
Ducky: #5: What contract year team will not survive this year?
Me. I got talent, but my team sucks. That's probably because of my lack of DCs skills. Or because I don't got that center that is so important. But if I can make the right moves, I may have a chance. We'll see, it will be tough. I hope I survive, but that may not be the case. If I do survive, my team will be hella sick. AK, Josh Smith, Delonte West, Danny Granger, Kings 1st and Shaun Livingston is a great start. I just pray we make it to the playoffs this year
Tough call, Dan 3 points, Duce 2 points and Ducky 1 point. Denver has a better chance to survive than Memphis.
Final standings:
#1: Dan - 12 points
Tied for #2: Ducky and Duce - 9 points
Dan is the winner. Thank you everyone for your responses and please drive home safely.
