Sim 1 Overview
After adding Kobe Bryant in what as a 'controversial' trade, the Warriors have answered their critics by starting the 05/06 BBS season with a perfect 6-0 record. Lead by long time Warrior Baron Davis, Tracy McGrady and the aforementioned Bryant, Golden State managed to defeat Detroit, Phoenix and Chicago through sim 1. Stellar play by Scott Pollard and un-drafted rookie, Michael Southall have pushed the Warriors to the top of the standings.
After winning 2 championships in a row, defending BBS title winners the Toronto Raptors have started off slow, lagging to a poor 4-6 record. Gilbert Arenas and Dwyane Wade have been putting up big numbers consistantly, however their front court is lacking both in terms of offensive weaponry and depth. Stepina is doing well on the defensive end, however Toronto will need double digits from him if they want to improve their record through sim 2.
The Hawks are ecstatic with their 5-2 first sim, thanks mostly to their very dangerous front court of Zyrdrunas Ilgauskas and Jermaine O'Neal. Combined, the duo are tearing up opposing front courts for 45 and 20 per outing. Twenty three year old small forward Jarred Jeffries is lighting it up for the Hawks, averaging close to 20, 7 and 4 per game.
Much like Toronto, Indiana which plays home to the Garnett/Duncan duo have started off poorly, falling to 2-4 and 11th in the East. Statistically, the Pacers are doing decent with production from Duncan, Garnett and Hill all around where they are suppose to be. Vujacic is performing solidly at the point and Finley is performing as per his ratings suggest. Where the problem lies may be in the teams chemistry.
It looks as if the fans of Philadelphia will be in for another long year with the 76ers starting the 05/06 with a winless 0-9 record. There is one bright point in Philly though and that is the production of rookie guard Gerald Green. Green is putting up a team best 17.1ppg off 43% shooting.
The Blazers delved deep into last years playoff series so to see them steam out of the BBS opening sim blocks is no real surprise. Marbury, Richardson and Deng are receiving great help from Mihm and Dampier down low which is the key to their success. Their only loss came against the abysmal Hornets outfit, a game they truly should have won. Watch out for Portland this year.
Trading for Vince Carter during the off-season didn't pay off through sim 1 with the Suns going 2-5. Bibby, Hughes and Carter are performing well however simply not gelling well on the court. If the Suns can get their chemistry right, there is no doubting this teams improvement throughout the season.
