The season was over, the Trailblazers had a horrible record, and they were in the playoffs. Through out the streets of Portland, you could hear the cheers and singing for miles. Fans poured in and out of bars in great relief, the Blazers will make it into the playoffs for the first time in two years. They will be the 8th seed this season with a 35-47 record, one of the worst records a playoff team has ever had in BBS.
The Blazers will go up against powerhouse number 1 seed, the Phoenix Suns. With the additions of Stephon Marbury, Jason Richardson, and Erick Dampier, the Blazers started to get hot half way through the season. With young Luol Deng ranking top among all rookies this year, the team was playing some great basketball.
In the end the Blazers made a final push as they went 6-4 in their last 10 games to seal the 8th seed with a 2 game lead from the 9th and 10th place teams. It has been a very interesting season for the Trailblazers who at the start of the season were set to see another lotto pick, and build from there. Now with this whole new squad, they are ready to compete for years to come.
In other news, top rookie of the year candidate Luol Deng was cheated out of the award for Rookie of the Year, as other candidate Dwight Howard from the Celtics won instead. Luol was not disappointed at all; he just wants what is best for his team. Besides he says, we are in the playoffs after all, and the Celtics are sitting watching them.
