With the draft class just released, we thought it would it would be a good idea to do a mock draft from a different persepctive. The draft is just around the corner, and many teams are excited for what looks to be an excellent draft. This will be the first of 2 or 3 mocks we will do leading up to the draft, we will update the mocks when the draft order changes.
Here is the mock (order from day 99)
Here is the mock (order from day 99)
Pick # 1--Philadelphia 76ers
Chris Paul PG 6'0'' 175 20 B- C B+ B- C- A
Chris Paul looks to be the ideal # 1 choice for any team. Paul will be a top pg in BBS for a long time, and should be a great start for the rebuilding Sixers to go along with Hakim Warrick and Kendrick Perkins. Paul has excellent handles, can get to the basket at will, and is a good defender for a rookie.
Pick # 2--Utah Jazz
Deron Williams PG 6'3'' 210 21 C+ C+ B B C- A
With Paul gone, the Jazz will take the next best player availible. Luckily for them, the player turns out to be Deron Williams. Williams is already an excellent all around player, and he should be a good starter from day one. His ratings resemble a young Tony Parker's.
Pick # 3--Denver Nuggets
Andrew Bogut C 7'0'' 245 20 B- C- C+ C B- A
I could see the Nuggets going a lot of different ways if they do land # 3. Deron or Paul would have been ideal considering they already have Smith and Lebron, but a big man like Bogut would not be bad either. Bogut is already a good scorer and rebounder, who has a unique ability to pass the ball. I could see the Nuggets taking Bynum or Livingston as well.
Pick # 4--Sacramento Kings
Gerald Green SG 6'8'' 200 18 B- C+ C C C A
The Kings are yet another team that is rebuilding. Because they are set at the 1 and 3 with two nice young pieces, look for the Kings to draft a shooting gaurd or big man. I could see the Kings going with Andrew Bynum, Monta Ellis, or Gerald Green here. If they do choose Green, he'll provide yet another young player to build around. Although raw, he has a big upside. He can jump through the roof, can hit the trey, and is just 18 years old. Green would be a nice pick here.
Pick # 5--New Jersey Nets
Monta Ellis SG 6'3'' 175 18 B- C+ C+ C D+ A
With Gerald Green taken, the Nets fine themselves in an interesting position. They could pick a shooting gaurd like Monta Ellis and move Francis to the point, pick a small forward like Danny Granger, or pick a point gaurd like Livingston and have the flexibility to move Francis to the 2. The Nets have absolutely no idea what they will do, but scouts say that they do like Monta Ellis' upside. He is already a good scorer and passer, and is just 18 years old
Pick # 6--Miami Heat (from Blazers)
Shaun Livingston PG 6'7'' 180 19 C+ C B B C A
Livingston would be the ideal pick for the Heat here, as they are in desperate need of a point gaurd. Livingston has unusual size for a point gaurd, and has similar ratings to # 2 pick Deron Williams. However, Livingston's upside has been questioned by many scouts.
Pick # 7--Boston Celetics
Andrew Bynum C 7'0'' 285 18 C+ D+ D+ C+ C+ A
The Celtics would have loved to grab Livingston, but are stuck without a point gaurd worthy enough to draft. Luckily, all is not lost. In my opinion, Bynum would be a great pick for the Celtics here. Bynum would team up with Howard to create one of the best young frontcourts in BBS, a scary tandem for years to come.
Pick # 8--Cleveland Cavaliers
Ike Diogu PF 6'8'' 250 21 B C C C+ C+ B
The Cavs already have a great 1/2/3 with Barbosa, Gordon, and Wallace, so look for them to take a big man. Ike Diogu is the best big man left, and is the best inside scorer in the draft. Diogu is strong, bulky, and has very good post moves despite his size. He will never be an all around STUD in the BBS, but he could very well average 17+ ppg for his career, if developed correctly.
Pick # 9--Golden State Warriors (from Grizz)
Danny Granger SF 6'8'' 225 22 B- C+ C B+ C B
FINALLY, Granger is picked. The Warriors are strong pretty much everywhere, so they can afford to take the best player availible. Granger is by far the best player around, and would be a superb pick if he falls. He is a terrific defender, and is also a solid scorer.
Pick # 10--Phoenix Suns (from Mavs)
Channing Frye C 6'11'' 248 22 B- C D+ C+ C+ A
With their big men getting old, look for the Suns to try to pick a successor. Frye is from Phoenix and would love to play for the Suns, however the Nets will do whatever they can to acquire Channing from the Suns .
Pick # 11--New York Knicks (from Magic)
Josh Childress SG 6'8'' 210 22 C+ C+ C B C A
The Knicks are another good team with a lotto pick. They don't need anything in particular, so look for them to add to their young core with Childress, a good all-around player that could help them off the bench.
Pick # 12--Miami Heat
Sean May PF 6'9'' 266 21 B- C C- C+ C+ B
I don't care if the Heat have a ton of big men! The Nets want Webster, so they're getting him! May is a fat-ass who won't do shit in BBS unless he is bribed by food.
Pick # 13--New Jersey Nets
Martell Webster SG 6'9'' 210 18 C B+ C C C A
WOHOOO! Webster falls to the Nets because I want him to...biggest steal of the draft .
