1. Philadelphia 76ers- PG Chris Paul
Landing the #1 pick in the 2005 BBS Draft will provide the most difficult decision since the 2002 BBS Draft. The decision is Chris Paul or Deron Williams. The 76ers are in complete rebuild mode for most likely the next four years and PG is a great place to start. Most feel you can't go wrong with either Paul or Williams here and the decision will likely be based on the 76ers management's preference between the two players.
At this point, I see Paul as being the pick even though many GMs prefer Williams. It is no secret that Spencer likes Paul better then Williams which will likely be enough to land him the first overall selection.
2. Denver Nuggets- PG Deron Williams
The #2 pick will be an easy selection. Williams will provide an amazing compliment to Josh Smith and Lebron that will give the Nuggets one of the best cores in the Western Conference for a long time. After grabbing a PG like Williams the Nuggets will have enough superstar talent to build the rest through later draft picks and FA.
3. Utah Jazz- C Andrew Bogut
Many GMs may not have Bogut a top 5 prospect on their board, but I see Utah having him third. Manas has always loved having a 'true' center. Andrew Bogut may not provide all the same skills as a 'true' center, but he does have a few tools many centers don't have. After recently trading Brad Miller the Jazz are in desperate need to find a center to line up with Al Jefferson. Bogut will provide this in a starting position immediately and make the Jazz one less starter from the Western Playoffs.
4. New Jersey Nets(from Blazers)- C Andrew Bynum
The Blazers are a team in the right direction. At this point, this pick isn't aren't to hold anywhere close to a top 4 pick. Right now the Nets have nothing special to build but Varejao and maybe Parker. . A young defensive minded center like Bynum will be the pick and will give them one big man that will be able to start immediately. The Nets can go either way with this pick but with Bynum being the only other legit big in the draft this could be the way they go.
5. New Jersey Nets- PG/SG Monta Ellis
After an early season playoff push, the Nets have stepped back into rebuilding again. Ellis has the potential to be a superstar, but at the same time can be nothing more than an average at best backup. The Nets are in desperate need for wing talent and Ellis or Gerald Green are the two players that can provide that.
6. Golden State Warriors (from Grizzlies)- SG/SF Gerald Green
The Warriors get lucky in having such a high lotto selection from another team in a league of tankers. The Warriors traded away one of the leagues best duos to get an up and coming center and a great SG/SF. Combing Gerald Green with Tracy McGrady, Baron Davis, and Emeka Okafor is a scary thought that has a great chance of happening. The Warriors are a team in trouble because of their growing cap situation, but if they can continue to get lotto picks from the Grizzlies the Warriors will once again be the power in the West.
7. Sacramento Kings- SF Danny Granger
Lumley once again managed to get his 1st round pick back and is once again not doing a great job at tanking. Lumley is already in the right direction with his selections of Devin Harris and Charlie V in last year’s draft. Another lotto player could make him a playoff team in the west very soon. With no big men worthy of this draft position, Lumley will be forced to reach for need or take the best player available. At this point, Granger is the best player available.
8. Phoenix Suns (from Mavericks)- SG Kevin Martin
At this point the draft prospect list is getting thin in immediate talent. The Suns are a great team with a lotto pick that they can take a gamble on. Martin is going to be a great shooter in this league. It just depends on how the rest of his game develops. He won't be required to play big minutes right away and could be a big boost in a couple of years to the Suns roster.
9. Boston Celtics- PG Nate Robinson
He is probably a reach at this point but the Celtics have had PG problems for a few seasons now. Robinson should develop into at least be an average starter. Though undersized his skills can't be ignored and that will warrant him a pick to a team that needs a PG like the Celtics.
10. Cleveland Cavs- PF Ike Diogu
The Cavs don't need a PG or young wings at this point. IF they get rid of Glenn Robinson then Martell Webster could be the pick. At this point they need another young big man though. Diogu will provide good defense and rebounding for a team that already has a lot of young talent on offense great job at tanking.
