Team strengths: Interior defense, shotblocking.
During the offseason, the Raptors managed to sign two all defensive second team free agents in center Shawn Bradley and power forward Robert Traylor. Both look to be starters and should help the Raptors to be one of the better defensive units this season. They also possess shotblocking off the bench in bigmen Chris Andersen and Francisco Elson, both of whom have the ability to average 3 or more blocks per contest as starters.
Team weaknesses: Perimeter defense.
Two starting perimeter players are average at best when it comes to defense. The bench doesnt provide much help in this area either.
Franchise player: Gilbert Arenas
The 22 year old guard is coming off of a breakout season in which he led his team all the way to the top of the mountain, as they won the BBS Championship. Arenas showed he is a highly efficient scorer that can also create for his teammates. Coming into this season, Arenas has vowed to become a better interior scorer and to lower his turnovers as well as to raise his assist numbers. A superb talent that still has room to grow.
Trade block: Arenas is untouchable.
Anyone else is a possibility.
Outlook: Deep playoff run.
Two in a row?
