Team strengths: Size, inside scoring, post defense
The idea for this year will be to control the tempo of every game, because we have a lot of size and a lot of big men who can put the ball in the basket. Our starting frontcourt is 6'10, 6'11 and 6'10, with 6'10 Zach Randolph coming off the bench. Three of those guys have B+ or higher inside, and Samuel Dalembert has a solid B. We'll try to pound the ball inside, do well on the glass and keep our opponents from doing much in the paint.
Team weaknesses: Backcourt defense, turnovers
Mo Williams has yet to prove himself as a worthwhile player, though he had a great TC. We'll need him to keep the turnovers down and learn to defend his position against bigger players. Michael Redd is deadly from outside, but on the other end of the ball, he's not a very alert defender. Good perimeter teams should be able to thrive against us.
Franchise player: Lamar Odom
He steps in right away as the centerpiece. Major acquisition that completes the rebuilding movement for us. He is a threat inside and has range on his jumper. He's bigger than about every other SF out there. Can play off the dribble, and is a great passer. Even rebounds the ball really well. He's the kind of do-it-all player we want to win around.
Trade block: Not looking to do much, but if I can package Michael Redd and Bobby Simmons for a star SG, that's a move I'll make.
Outlook: Definitely have the playoffs in mind this season. Think we have a lot of offense, and we should be a solid defensive team. It depends on the point guard play, though. If Williams or Strickland can step in with low turnovers and solid defense, we should be a playoff lock.
