Kinda bored so i figured i would write an article.
1. Boston - Dwight Howard PF 6'11'' 265 18 B- D+ C- B- B A
- Easy choice for the Celts. They got incredible lucky and they land a franchise player in Dwight Howard.
Grade: A+
2. Cleveland - Andre Iguodala SF 6'6'' 205 20 B- C B- B C A
- Another one of those teams that got lucky. Cleveland needed help everywhere to help their rebuild. Getting Iggy is a step in the right direction.
Grade: A
3. Portland - Luol Deng SF
- Deng is a great rebuilding piece. I dont think he'll be a superstar but defintely can be an All-Star is his potential pans out. He'll have time to grow in Portland. Good pick by the Blazers.
Grade: A
4.LA Clippers - Al Jefferson PF 6'10'' 265 19 B- C- C- C+ C+ A
- This is where i figured it would get interesting and interesting it got. The Clippers were the worst team in the league and obviously needed help everywhere but i dont think going with Jefferson was a good move. Smith would have made more sense. Clippers should have traded down and picked up more pieces and still obtain Jefferson. Dont like this pick
Grade: C-
5. Denver - Josh Smith PF 6'9'' 235 18 B- C C- B C+ A
- Ducky knows talent when he sees it. He went with the best available player. A steal at 5. Josh smith and Lebron will be great together.
Grade: A
6. Portland - Andris Biedrins C 6'11'' 245 18 C+ D C- B- B- A
- Love this pick. I think Biedrins will be really solid. Could be steal of the draft.
Grade: A
7. New Jersey - Marvin Williams SF 6'9'' 230 18 B- C C C+ C+ A
- Can't blame the Nets for going with Williams. He looks to be one of those guys that will be really good or just suck. Good pick at this point.
Grade: B+
8. Sacramento - Charlie Villanueva SF 6'10'' 240 19 B- C+ C C C+ A
- Kings need big man help and although Villanueva is a SF he can play PF and help out the Kings down low. Wont be a star but can be a good role player. SOlid pick
Grade: B+
9. Atlanta - Hakim Warrick SF 6'9'' 220 22 B- C- C- B- C A
- The Hawks had no need for PG's like Devin Harris or Jameer Nelson so they went with Warrick whose one of those guys thats too small to play PF but doesn't have enough range for SF. The Hawks really needed help down so i would of took a chance and took someone like Humphries. Not a bad pick though.
Grade: B-
10. Sacramento - Devin Harris PG 6'3'' 185 21 C+ C C+ B C A
- They just traded away Andre Miller and Cassel is 34. This was the sensible pick for the Kings. Harris is a great defender and with some RC's can be a good PG
Grade: B+
11. Portland - Jameer Nelson PG 6'0'' 190 22 C B- B- C+ C B
- The Blazers had a stellar draft. If i was grading teams they would have gotten an "A" from me. Having already picked Biedrins and Deng they Blazers go for some PG help. Given their situation and the prior picks made this was a sensible move by Basone.
Grade: B+
12. Cleveland - Kendrick Perkins C 6'10'' 280 19 C+ D+ D C+ C+ A
- The Cavs take a chance on a young big man. Perkins is a progect but you never know with that A potential. Solid pick but i would have went with Humphries
Grade: B
13. Portland - J.R. Smith SG 6'6'' 220 18 C+ B- C C C- A
- Portland had a busy draft night. They pick up JR Smith to go alongside Jameer Nelson. Smith has loads of potential and could be a good scorer in a few years.
Grade: B+
If im bored i'll do the rest of the draft. Just did this to spark a little discussion in the boards since its been dead around here.
